Questions & Answers

Gaurang D : Can I use it with my home theater for sound?RANDY R : Not exactly sure what you're trying to do but the answer would be yes. It's a mixer so you can use it to play instruments or mic through your home theater or you could run your gear through it to your amp or receiver (although I don't know why you would want to do that)Raymond C G : Yes you can. A long as you have all the cables for it. How many inputs for your home theatre do you have?Spencer H : Yes, but I would not recommend it, depending on what you are trying to achieve. Use the right tool for the job.
Shopper : Is this a powered mixer?YITZY G : No. there is no amplifier built into the mixer. I use it with powered speakers. Love it!THUC N : No, it is not a powered mixer. You would need to buy a power amp or powered speakers for this mixer.Sun M : No it isn't.This is a only mixer. You needs a power amplifier or active speaker to produce the sound.John B : It's not powered. You'll need either powered speakers (we have Mackie powered speakers), or a separate power amp/non-powered speaker combo. Hope that helps, JohnOSCAR B : No, you will need a power amp or some powered speakers to get some volume going.PHUONG N : No this will need either power speakers or external power amp.Spencer H : Yes, it has an internal headphone amp and supports phantom power and hi-z mic inputTHO S : No, it is not powered mixerRAUL S : No, you will need amplified speakers or an amplifier to use it.
Shopper : Can i sue this for Radio Broadcast?PREDRAG S : It all depends on what connections you plan to make from the mixer to a recording/delivery device. If you're doing a live radio broadcast, then you need to see the requirements of the delivery device (i.e. your computer, radio station equipment, etc.). To confirm which input the delivery device requires and make sure this mixer has a compatible output. Basically this mixer allows you to group multiple audio sources (inputs) and export it into one analog signal, which is then transferred to whichever "output" you'd prefer. This mixer will not broadcast by itself, it needs a delivery system.

Sound great with Mackie Thump12 but not much effect

Easy to use, sound great but the effect is little. I could not make echo effect sound much for karaoke thus need another voice processor from TC electronics and Vocopro

Very Good, not great

I'm using the Mackie in a professional setting 3+ nights a week. The construction is incredible, it's easy to set up and tear down, and despite having no real experience with mixers prior to purchasing this, it was super straightforward and easy to use. I'm already adding FX like a pro! That said, there are a couple issues I have with it. The knobs are great, but the sliders feel a little weak. They've stood up so far, but if I had to put money on the first thing to break, it would definitely be a slider. Most importantly, and very disappointingly, there is a VERY loud hum when using the USB to Audio Interface. I bought this mixer for two reasons: I wanted Main Line XLR out, and USB/Audio Interface in. But the hum is so bad I had to buy 3.5mm to XLR and I'm running this through my laptop's headphone jack now. I tried the cable that came with the mixer, and also bought a $ cable to replace it, thinking it might just be the cable quality, but alas, still had the unbearable hum. Seriously. The hum is so bad that I knocked off two stars. It's unusable. I also want to point out that the USB in doesn't get stereo; it just has a single knob giving no control but volume. That part is my bad; I didn't read the manual before purchasing, or I'd have seen that you have to have the ProFX16 or larger to get that. Honestly, I probably would have bought the 16 just for that feature, but I assume the hum would have been just as bad, so maybe it's for the best that I saved my money. Everything else, though; construction quality, delivery speed, packaging, all of that was great! Especially glad to have mid control, not just lows and highs.

Most bang for your bucks here

I am a mobile DJ, often, it requires me to hook up lots of other input at the same time and this does it pretty good at it. Of course, built quality is legendary Mackie quality not as nice as the high end mixers but this definitely does job. Balanced XLR outputs, multiple dedicated microphone inputs, monitor output... effects and so on. all knobs are clearly layed out with color, knobs are defaulted at the mid point, graphical eq's big plus. you won't find anything this good in this price range.

A good upgrade for me

I bought this to replace my ancient 1402 VLZ mixer. The configuration was different enough from the 1402 that I had to tweak my setup a bit & it's still not set up exactly as I'd like, but that's more a function of my own unique setup and not really a ding against the 12v2. The USB connection is really great to have. Windows recognized it immediately and no drivers were required. For someone with a small studio or perhaps getting serious about podcasting, this would be a great choice. If you're someone who may eventually get much more serious about recording, you might want to fork over more and get one with more inputs, but for a hobbyist, semi-pro, etc., it's a great buy.

Little Mixer with Great Extras

I was looking for a small but powerful mixer for live sports events and I found it. Easy to setup and use, even for a beginner.
