Sturdy reversing ring I use with the Canon 40mm f2.8 stm lens. It allows me to get in very close to my subject which gives an extremely narrow depth of field. Must use manual focus, can't adjust aperture. Fun!

As one would expect at this level, the machining, fit and finish are fine. As one would expect with an alloy adapter or filter ring, it binds with temperature changes. I found Adorama's two sets of plastic filter wrenches allay lots of heart burn

I use this ring to reverse mount a 35mm lens for close-up photography of small items, critters and flowers. It is easy to attach to the lens and fits well on my Canon bodies. Since I already owned the 35mm lens, for very little added cost, this setup produces nice close-up shots.

I've used this adapter with 50mm f/1.4 lens and marveled at the results. I also have the EOS-58mm adapter and have used it with a short zoom 18-55mm lens with much success. As always, great care must be exercised while screwing the adapter's thread into the filter thread of the lens. This is most easily accomplished by attaching the adapter to the lens prior to attaching the adapter to the camera. If the opposite is attempted, the additional weight makes assembly awkward and cross-threading may occur. Focus can only be achieved by moving the object or the camera. Compose the shot with the aperture wide open then stop down for the desired depth of field. Very sturdy tripod essential and additional lighting recommended. Your on-board flash will be useless. It does not matter which brand name lens you use as long as the filter thread marches. Try one. You won't be disappointed.

Reverse Rings are threaded on one side to fit the filter thread of your lens. The other side has a mount like your camera lens.
Screw the adapter into your lens' filter thread, turn the lens around and bayonet it into the camera body. This greatly increases the macro reproduction range capabilities.
Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing will not operate
