I've used a lot of tripods and this is by far the best setup I've used for light to medium sized cameras. The Fluid head is silky smooth with plenty of drag flexibility for both pan and tilt. I wish the camera plates weren't ($) each. But that may be my only complaint. The sticks are rock solid with almost no flex. They also go very tall and very close to the ground. Great setup. I own 2 now.

The Miller 1827 Compass 15 2-Stage Alloy system combines the Compass 15 fluid head and cost-effective yet extremely stable 420G Toggle tripod with ground spreader to provide professional performance for the latest generation of lightweight HDV/DVCAM/XDCAM/P2HD and DSLR cameras.

The Compass 15 is a versatile compact 75mm fluid head suitable for cameras and configurations payloads up to 22lbs (10kg). The advanced precision fluid drag and counterbalance systems operated by slim in line radial ring controls result in quicker and easier set up.

With an extended 5+0 position fluid drag system employing smooth start and soft stop technology and 4 counterbalance settings plus 60mm camera plate balance travel, the Compass 15 offers a fast reliable set up you can trust and is versatile enough to use over a wide array of camera configurations. It is built to deliver consistent performance and drag resistance with no variation over a wide range of temperatures and environments.

The Compass 15 is matched with the 2 stage Toggle (alloy) tripod and on ground spreader to yield a height range 22-68" (560-1730mm), offer positive toggle leg locks and the stability of a ground spreader.
