I like this radio. The flashlight on it is cool but not overly powerful. Powerful enough so you could walk out of the woods at night. I compared the transmitting power to my Garmin 52HCX and it was toe to toe with it. The 35 mile transmitting range is misleading. From my house I drove down the road two miles and there were many hill crests within the two miles and that is where I had my last transmission (2 mile range in a hilly environment) If you are familiar with the Motorola Talkabout radio system then this one will be no problem to use. Vary similiar set up. The animal call option is ok, but it would not fool a wild animal. Over all great radio.
