Sturdy and Awesome

If you have existing stands to pop these guys on, i highly recommend them. They are heavy and solid. I have mounted an Interfit bracket with an SB-600 and umbrella/24" soft box/36" octo as well as a a heavy photogenic strobe head with a large softbox on it. As long as you counterweight the heavier items it's steady as a rock. The action on the knobs is incredibly smooth and will lock down TIGHT. Things to keep in mind: You will need additional hardware studs. You'l have to get one of the long ones. You will need to rig a counter balance, either a clamp weight or rig up something at the end of the bar to hang a weight bag. I bought a couple of 1/4" clamps from Home Depot to put on the end from which i hang a weight bag from. Think it cost an additional $1.75. It's 40" long, so if you are planning on using it on location or plan on travelling with it, make sure you have a bag long enough to carry it.

Best Grip Arm out there

By

from Milford, CT  -  Pro Photographer

The Matthews offering in Grip Arms is the best out there. The key for me is that the actual bar is stainless steel. The bar is 40" but my roller bag is 36", so I got a hacksaw and cut off 4", filed the end smooth, threw the 4" piece in my bag as a pencil point, and now my bar fits in the bag. I carry two of them everywhere I go.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ROBERT H  I chose the Matthews brand because the arm is Stainless Steel. This allows you to cut the arm to a certain length for specific jobs. I cut mine to 36" to fit into my travel lightstand bag.
