Inspired by legendary subtractive synthesizers, the MOTU MX4 virtual synthesizer plug-in from MOTU combines several core synthesis techniques in a unified, hybrid synthesis engine that delivers modern and vintage sounds alike. The software contains many banks and hundreds of presets, including fat basses, nasty leads, analog pads, vintage Electronica, all conveniently saved with the host application projects for instant recall.
Creating or tweaking sounds is fast and easy with clearly presented controls in a single window. But the software is also capable of being programmed with a depth and sophistication true synthesizer programmers will appreciate. Using 32-bit sound quality, unlimited voices and unlimited polyphony (as much as the host computer allows,) the MX4's flexible programming and advanced modulation architecture provides the intimacy of a vintage synthesizer, the flexibility of a modular synthesizer and the innovation of a virtual synthesizer.

Three Wavetable Oscillators
Can access dozens of pre-programmed wavetables or the user can create their own.

Frequency Modulation (FM)
Oscillator 3 serves as an FM source for oscillator 1, oscillator 2 and the filters.
Two Resonant Multimode Filters
Low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and notch filters with 4 slope settings for a total of 16 different filter types. Both filters can be stacked to provide a slope of 48dB per octave.
Variable Filter Topology
14 different filter and distortion configurations that can produce over 3,000 different filter topologies.
Six variable waveshape LFOs - each includes adjustable symmetry, rate delay, fade and phase.
Four DADSHR envelopes with time segments adjustable from 0 to 20 seconds.
All continuously variable parameters, including LFOs and envelopes, can be modulated by many sources, including track automation, MIDI controllers, LFOs and envelopes.
