Questions & Answers

Shopper : how do i find the right rubber cap for my set? ineed oneJEAN W : I'm sorry I have no idea. I just use the rubber caps that came with my binoculars. They're great though.JOSEPH S : Contact Nikon customer service.
Ralph F : what is the difference between 3.5 and 5.5 degree angle of view?STANLEY P : Two degrees. Think of it like a pie chart, where the normal, average view might approach 180°. Then your respective degree references would simply be the matching slices of the two. For, say, a binocular, either one I would label as rather common apparent fields of view (AFOV), neither very wide nor overly constricted. So there you have it, Ralph.KEVIN S : I have no idea.
KAMAN L : does it come with tripod adapter? one of the reviewers says yes, but am not sure as it's not mentioned in the specs.KATHY C : Yes,and it is a great binocular you will love it.DANIEL S : yes a tripod adapter is included - i have not used the adapter so i can't comment on how well it works but it is included.FRED U : They are at our house in FL and we are currently in VA so I can't look at them to give you a correct answer. I believe there is a tripod adapter but can't say for sure. They are difficult to hold steady so we use our 8x40 binoculars most of the time.JOHN W : I bought these binoculars a while ago. I cannot remember whether a tripod adapter was included. But any adapter is dependent on which tripod you have. And relative to the cost of the binoculars the cost of a tripod is minimal. I suggest purchasing an adapter based on your tripod. Return it if you find it is not needed.

See you coming from a mile away! Said the migrants!

I had my last 3 pairs of Nikon 16x50 for 16 years. Illegal migrants crossing from Del Rio , Texas area into the U.S. broke into my cabin , 30 miles into South Texas and stole all 3 pair , among other personal items. First time in 16 years! First thing replaced , Nikon 16x50 binoculars! What did I like about these binoculars? Everything! Crystal clear view, not too heavy, Nikon Quality! Need I say more? I think not!

Good pair of binoculars but not easy to use.

These are good binoculars but interestingly, not easy to use. I mean they are binoculars so how hard can they be to use? Comparatively speaking, the things that all binoculars do- fit your eyes, focus on subject, attach to tripod- this one should have been perfect but it’s not.

Wanted some quality binoculars without breaking the bank, these fill my needs.

Best binoculars I've ever owned. Super clear, east to use. Water proof so you don't have to worry about a little rain.

16x50s!

The preponderance of these reviews seem to be for the 10x50s, not the 16s, that I propose to review. To begin with the AE 16x50 bins are a truly outstanding unit; and a bargain to boot. It is my opinion that they stand side-by-side with even some of the larger and WAY more expensive 70mm bins, in depth of field, edge-to-edge resolution and quality of true color rendition...Not to mention ergonomic excellence. Maybe the exit pupil is a bit restrictive, but only a negligible complaint therein. I have seen the Jovian disk, albeit in very good seeing conditions, including that particular morning Io just emerging from behind at what must have been merely seconds of distance! Also, having encountered a collimation error, Nikon more than only corrected them, but sent me a new pair. Excellent service to say the least!

Just Okay.

These are Value minded binocs and not of high quality. I would rec you save your money for some time and get a pair of Minox 15 power for 599 or Vortex 15power for 650. The images are okay in the middle of the day but they struggle to gather light in early AM and late eves. The edges are blurred. Higher power binocs of quality are hard to,come by and you get what you pay for,,,,,, Go try some high power binocs and compare, then shop for the best deal.

Action Extreme ATB

We were able to see whales clearly from the shore, which is what we wanted. We need to get a tripod because the binos do get heavy after awhile.

why did I wait so long

Could not decide if these would be worth the money. Compared to others that I have used these are hands down the best binoculars that you can get in this price range. Worked great for my applications.

Good binoculars but minor color fringing

16 power binoculars are difficult to hold steady and these are no exception. They do come with a tripod mount which would help. The only problem I've found is the very slight chromatic aberration. Considering the low price, the image quality is very acceptable. I think most people would be happier with 8x40 binoculars which are much easier to hold steady.

You pay for what you get

Purchased these for my boat. I'm very satisfied with performance. Had a hard time seeing what the next boat over was pulling in with my previous pair of 8x. At 16x I'm practically in the net with my neighbor's catch. Other than the price, and they are pricey, I'd recommend these to anyone. I'm not into astronomy, but the moon looks awesome as well. I also noticed a lot of stars that are not visible with the naked eye. So a+ on low light viewing as well.
