Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S Super Wide Angle Zoom NIKKOR Lens - Grey Market

I ordered two used Nikon 17-35 f/2.8D lenses - because they are still the goto street lens IMHO. You couldn't find them until a few years ago - now they are cheap used. One shipped out of NY and the other shipped out of TN. Both were listed as "heavily used" but with caps and hood. One had the original caps and correct HB-23 hood. The other had generic caps and a hood for a 200mm lens, not a 17-35m. The lenses themselves -- good working order, good AFS SWM focus, with zoom and aperture rings functional. I didn't see any scratches or internal dust on glass - but used means used - they have slight dings. caveat: no issue for me. Overall - good deal, if I had to order a correct flower hood HB-23 for second item. One star off for improper equipment by used lens team -- please note that lens has 3rd party cpas and or incorrect lens hood. Little league mistake maybe. This is the third lens order for me from adorama -- and used is used when you save $1,000 on an item that is perfectly functional, even if it has a ding or two. win/win.

I purchased the 17-35mm for use on my Nikon F2-AS 35mm film camera. Great lens for landscapes as well as street/metro locations. I consider this lens a "grail" must-have. Not bad for a 45 year old camera plus a great lens. I look forward to using this lens on a 850 when I purchase one soon.

I've got two Nikon lenses for my D810 - the 24-70 2.8 and this 17-35 2.8. Yes these two were expensive (for me anyway), but do no think I will need anything else. Highly recommend the 17-35mm 2.8.

This lens is a beauty a little heavy but worthy! It seems that it was made to endure for a loooong time. Built like a tank, it feels strong. Of course it has some imperfections, never try to shoot the 17mm at the 2.8 aperture, it is not that clear but everything else is pretty good to me, Love it!

I conducted a lot of non-scientific research for a FX lens that I could used for shooting real estate interiors and this lens actually came out the winner. I wanted to avoid some of the issues related to the 14-24mm, 16-28mm and other ultra wide angle lenses and it performs well. I have no problem capturing an entire room floor to ceiling and the color saturations are excellent. As with all lenses no matter the cost, it has soft corners when shooting wide open but, closed down to f/5.6, f/8, and smaller it is very sharp and fast. I also own the Nikkor Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 that I use on my DX bodies and it is equally as good. Excellent lens and highly recommended.

Bought this used from Adorama with a D rating. Meaning is supposed to be like new. And it absolutely is. Can't see a mark on the thing. Super fast focusing and without the infamous nikon squeak with a big price savings. Some say this lens is heavy but coming from the Tamron 24-70 its not heavy at all. So far loving it.

It looks and functions extremely well. Only very slight flaw is with the lens hood.....it's difficult to place properly requiring only a greater attention to its attachment. a very minor complaint for the high quality and great price.

This lens performs beautifully, smooth, has a fast focus and feels sturdy. I bought it used since new is a bit in the pricey side, but it is worth every cent. A must have lens.

I got this lens because I wanted to switch to all f/2.8 lenses for my wedding photography. I had the 16-35mm f/4 VR lens, but quite frankly I don't think the VR gave me any value for shooting wedding action shots. The only thing the VR is good for is shooting stationary objects where you can hand hold the camera at a shutter speed of 1/10 second or slower. I generally shoot at at least 1/50 second so getting the f/2.8 lens gave me an additional stop of light gathering power. Weight comparison between the two : the 17-35 is 2 ounces heavier which is negligible. Size comparison - the 17-35 is 1/2" shorter than the 16-35 f/4. Get the 16-35 f/4 lens if you want to hand hold the camera at slow shutter speeds. Get the 17-35 if you need it for photographing action in low light. They are both extremely sharp professional lenses.

I had pondered this lens for quite some time. I am very glad I got it and I got it for a steal too! I would recommend this lens to anyone who is in need of a more purposeful wide zoom. The build quality is just fantastic, strong metal construction. My only complaint would be the fact that the corners never sharpen up, although they aren't exactly soft, just not tack sharp. I haven't noticed any vignetting yet that made a photo unusable and the CA cleans up nice in lightroom. If you are unsure about the lens, my suggestion is to get it.

Great for DX and FX cameras. I use this for landscape and even architectural photography. The relatively low distortion on this lens makes it great for both types of photography. While not ideal, I correct for converging lines in photoshop. The lens is very sharp and resolves well. And rugged. Not that I would suggest it, but have dropped it twice from about 3' onto wood floors. I thought that I had lost the lens, but it is still working like a champ. Again, not recommended that you drop it, but if you do, all hope is not lost. Pricey and worth it.

I just received the lens and have only used it once. That was for a sunset shoot. I used it on a D700 and the images were excellent. Beautiful colors and sharp. See attached image. I bought it over the 14-24 because of the ability to use filters. On this shoot early on I used a gradudated ND filter. I got one red reflection spot, which cleaned up nicely using spot removal in LightRoom. The lens seems to be very well constructed. It is an older D type lens, and has no VR. However, I bought it for landscape where it will be tripod mounted. Besides, in the 17-35mm range, who needs VR?

My most recent usage of this lens was when I was in Death Valley NP in Feb. I used the lens to photograph the salt flats at "Badwater" in the park. At 9:00pm. By the light from a full moon. The salt flats look like the image was shot at noon except that there are all these stars in the sky.

Todays younger photographers may not realize that only a few years ago, did we learn about correcting wide angle lenses to be more accurate. To have as much zoom capability as this lens does, and with as much flexibility, is amazing. Nikon hard at work, again !

Must have lens to round out the f2.8 series. The 70-200 has been my workhorse for years but lately I find my self reaching for this lens more often. I almost only shoot at 17mm and f5.6. It's really added to my creativity and I've really begun to enjoy shooting wide. This is a Nikon pro lens and it's as good as it's name. Tank solid, it works perfectly every time. This lens doesn't quite have the stunning sharpness of the 70-200 in my opinion but it's still near perfect in every way.

use for weddings, landscapes, close focusing for floral photography. this lens prevents having to change lenses often. I really love it for weddings,and for wedding party and reception photos.This lens usually stays on one of my cameras, as it works well with all of my 35mm cameras,F photomic to f5. It is a wonderful peace of equipment.
