Nikon 35mm lense

The 35mm fixed lense for any Nikon DSLR is a great investmet for any type of Photogropher. Mine is mostly used for macro shots and constantly puts out amazing photos that I cannot get with a 18-55mm

Beautifully light & sharp

This is a perfect lens for darker / indoor events (galleries, bars, dinners, house parties). Cranking this down to 1.8/2.0 makes for a spectacular and intimate portrait lens. Due to the short focal range, you really have to get in someone's face for shots, and that's the magic. At under 200$, you really cannot go wrong with this lens, it weighs nothing, and is exceedingly fun to shoot... just don't forget to set it to point focus/metering.

It may never leave your camera body...

This is an amazing all-purpose lens for us. it is pretty much married to one of our camera's all the time. Fast focus and 1.8 are critical in Wedding photography, and this lens has performed perfectly for us. While the Bokeh doesn't look AS good as some manual lenses that we own, it still can make those amazing depth-of-field shots when needed. i'll soon be comparing it to a 50mm 1.8, 85mm 2, but for now, this is our go-to lens of choice!

Great price - Great lens

This is a great lens, I actually bought Nikon D7000 just for fun (as I have Canon 5D MK II and Canon L lenses) and bought 50mm f1.8 together with it at first. I have found that the focal is a little too much for walk around purposes and it is a bit plasticky... so I bought this lens to replace it. The focal is now much more usable than the 50mm on crop sensor camera. As it's almost equal to what you see (50mm). After I have seen the result of what this lens could do, I felt a bit disappointed with my 24-70L as the colour, the bokeh and the framing of the picture turn out to be always better and more interesting than the zoom lens... I was suspicious at first but after a long time of comparison...and using this fixed lens.. I think I will never use the zoom lens again. In fact I have to shoot a wedding to shoot in 2 weeks time. I think I will use this lens and the Nikon to shoot instead. (will put my 5D as a spare camera... shame!) I think as you getting better in photography fixed lens is the way to go!

Everyone needs one of these...

This is a no brainer for anyone who is using a DX camera in available light and who doesn't already have a fast 50mm lens. If you need a very fast and light lens that produces high quality images this one is for you. I use it in low light situations where the use of a flash is not possible or not wise. Because the focus is done by moving the rear elements the front of the lens does not move and the filter does not rotate. On a Nikon the effective focal length works out to around 53mm (35mm x 1.5) so the pictures look similar to your standard 50 mm on a regular 35mm film camera or a full sensor camera.

Great Lens!

Use this product in my studio. Great for low light conditions and controling DOF. Love it! Originally got it for my D5000, but just upgraded to a D700 and it works great on that as well. The only difference between the 2 is the number of MB is about 1/2 on the D700. Still produces a surprisingly sharp image!

Such a great lens!

This lens is the newest addition to my bag. I have only had it for a few days and I am already in love with it! It focuses very fast and silently; and the sharpness is just great! I also have a 50mm fixed, but on a Nikon d90 I often find that it's too great a focal length for me. 35mm is so much more comfortable to use on a crop body like the d90!

Must Have For any DX shooter

Very sharp pictures wide open. This lens worth every penny especially if you look at price/performance. AF was right on spot and didn't have to do any micro adjustment which tells about the quality of NIKON glass.

A Great Value

A very fast lens. The price is right. Since it's not a zoom lens you have to move around to compose the photo. This is a good learning experience. I'd reccomend this lens. It is light weight and well constructed as well.

AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens, is the first fixed focal length, fast-aperture DX-format lens that affords photographers superb image quality along with the creative possibilities and versatility of the classic 50mm focal length (FX-format equivalent of 52mm). When mounted on a DX-format camera body, it enables photographers to document their world with a lens that produces a picture angle similar to the field of vision as seen through the human eye. Whether new to D-SLRs or a seasoned enthusiast, users will appreciate the extreme low-light performance and the expanded ability to dramatically separate the subject and background with the new 35mm DX lens' wide f/1.8 aperture.

Lightweight, compact and affordable, this lens can easily become a fast favorite for any level of photographer, and is the perfect complement to D60 users who are just starting to learn D-SLR photography or enthusiasts who love their D90. The AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens is ideal for travel, general photography, landscape shooting, portraiture or pushing creative boundaries. The stunning sharpness, clarity and color reproduction are all proof positive of more than 75 years of NIKKOR heritage and experience in optics engineering.

This lens continues the tradition of NIKKOR precision optics to provide photographers with sharp, high-resolution images and the ability to focus as close as 0.98 feet, while the integration of an ultra-compact Silent Wave Motor ensures fast, whisper-quiet AF operation.

The 35mm DX lens construction consists of eight elements in six groups, with one aspherical lens to reduce size and weight, while contributing to the enhanced balance when mounted on a smaller DX-format D-SLR. A rounded diaphragm opening combined with the seven-blade aperture contributes to a substantially more circular bokeh for a more natural appearance of out-of-focus background elements. Additionally, instances of lens flare and chromatic aberration are suppressed using Nikon's exclusive Super Integrated Coatings, which also help ensure vividly accurate color balance.
