Most Bang For The Buck!

This may be Nikon's least expensive lens and it is one of the best. It works on auto focus with the D80 but not with the D40 or D60 but that shouldn't stop you from purchasing. Manual focus is no big deal aat all. I use this lens mostly to do landscape and photo's of flowers. Of course you have to move your feet since it is a prime lens but that's no big deal either. This is a great walk around lens. Sharp as a tack. Can't think of even one tiny negative. Buy it, you'll love it!

Great lens but tight fit on D750

By

from Richmond, VA, USA

Bought the D instead of a G because of the slightly smaller size. Ended up exchanging it and going with the G model because it was a real tight fit when trying to mount and unmount from camera. My other lenses felt nice and smooth and easy to mount and unmount, this one felt like there was considerable amount of tension. G model did not have the issue. No complaints on the image.

Filled a hole in my line up

By

from san angelo, texas  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Needed a good fast 50mm to fill a hole in my line up. Very pleased. Purchased as "used" with an E rating. When I opened it I could find no evidence of previous usage. It works great and I'll enjoy using this lens. Very light weight and photos are crisp and sharp.

50mm 1.8d

By

from New Jersey  -  Photo Enthusiast

My D7000 work with the 50 1.8d perfectly and it auto focus cause the camera as the built in motor. Sharp pictures. Always great to buy from Adorama specially on super sale items. I have no regret purchasing this lens for about 90 dollars. Thanks again Adorama. Alex

Cheap fast prime lens, manual focus

By

from Harrison, Me

This lens is a steal for the money . I use it with my Nikon D3200 it only works in manual focus but it's F/1.8 aperture is great for low light conditions. I have used this lens to photograph stars, landscapes and people, a nice prime lens takes better pics than the kit lens that comes with the camera.

Wonderful prime lens

By

from Citrus County, FL, USA

I love this lens. I use it on my d7100 and the results have been excellent. It is great in low light, very sharp, focuses quickly, and gives great crispness and color fidelity. At the price, this may be the best bargain in camera lenses, period. I highly recommend this lens for any camera with a focus motor in the camera (7000 series or higher).

My Go-To Glass

By

from Columbia, SC, USA

I love this lens. Watched Youtube videos where some reviews made critical comments about it being plastic instead of metal. That means nothing to me. This was my first lens, and it is miles beyond the kit lenses. This lens will immediately increase your confidence in what you can do with your camera. You will become very familiar with the word "bokeh" as you use this lens.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Pat T  Will this lense fit a D40 camera? If so will it work om auto focus?
EILEEN R  yes it will work with the D40 but will not autofocus
Shopper  I have a nikon d 5000 i like to know if a 50mm / 1/8 len fit on my camera?
K Lynnda F  Yes. It will be the equivalent of a 75mm lens though. Great little lens. Just love mine.
Rafael R. L  Regarding a 50 mm Nikkor lens, what does f.1.8D AF mean? Is AF auto focus? Will this lens work on a Nikon D 7000 camera
WILLIAM B  Yes it works well with the D7000. I have both the camera and this lens. It is an autofocus lens that works with the camera in the AF mode. It is designed for this specific sized sensor (i.e. it is not intended for a full sized sensor such as found in the D700). Please note, however, that there is occasionally problems with these lenses but Adorama will cheerfully refund or ship you another if you happen to get such a lens. In particular, my brother purchased one and it had a purple discoloration near the center of each photo. I don't know what the specific problem was. The point is, that you have no fear when purchasing from Adorama as they will always make it right. Cheers.
