About Nikon CPL1L

In general, light reflected from water, glass, or other shiny materials is polarized and adversely affects image definition. Circular polarizing filters reduce or eliminate unwanted reflections and increase the overall contrast of subjects in low-contrast situations

Usually, light from the sky is polarized due to reflections and dispersions in the air. Circular polarizing filters cut these reflections, making the sky blueror intensifying colors.

Works exactly as it should

I am using this filter on a Nikon D50 with the kit lenses, 18-55 and 55-200 and a 50mm 1.8. Happily the same filter fits all three. Have used it only a few days and have yet to really stress it with shots into sun over water or snow. I will follow-up on those aspects after such use and some examples of the filter in action. At first, its fine construction made it seem fragile, but that feeling has not persisted. It is well made, rotates smoothly and holds its setting with camera movement. Easy to "fine tune" the effect both for glare and enhancing color. Will have to accumulate many shots to know whether to change the camera's color management settings, but so far on the computer screen, they seem to work well at default. Also have not attempted to manipulate any shots with PS Elements but forsee no problems there. I consider this filter to be an essential addition to my equipment, a good value and look forward to many happy uses.

What the other dude said.... Translating for USA Site

Like any other polarizing filter, creates fantastic on water surfaces and glass and shades of the canopy effects. Also used creatively in various other situations and themes of landscapes with high contrast, always with amazing results when used with technique and knowledge. There are very cheap polarizing filters, but lose in quality what a Nikon becomes unacceptable.

Great filter

Great filter. I like that lens cap now fits filter. Old Nikon Polarizer was bigger than lens cap. Only down side case is a piece of junk plastic

Nikon Circular Polarizer

I have used this product just a few times. It made sense to get this for living in Arizona where the sun usually shines it would help achieve results unavailable in post processing. I use it on my 18-55mm lens and my 35mm f/1.8. Works well on both! You pay a bit more for this filter as compared to others but the Nikon quality makes it a real value.

Polarizing filters are kept on all my glass,to saturate colors ,remove unwanted reflections and increase shutter times for waterfalls etc, they also protect the front element. The price is mid range, the quality is on par with the top priced filters

quality polarizer

By

from washington  -  Casual Photographer

It does a great job at cutting the glare from snow and water. I originally got a Hoya Polarizer, but depending on how it was rotated it changed the color to a pale yellow. This filter is great. No color distortion other than the darkening that you would expect, your whites still stay white.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
GAIL G  I saw another consumer review who had mentioned that the tinting was true grey and did not leave a greenish hue. I had troubles with that on past cheaper CPL filters and wanted nothing but the darkening and glare reduction. I also like the thin size, and can trust Nikon glass
Shopper  Why did you choose this?
HENRY H  I use it to reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as water and glass and to provide a beautiful contrast between clouds and sky. Its level of polarization is adjustable which makes it an ideal filter for many outdoor situations.
Dick H  I have a Nikon P510 and I just purchased this polarizing filter but don't seem to be able to thread it properly. Do I have the wrong filter? If so, what do I need to buy?
ANN C  I don't know your camera or what size ring you need but all Nikon filters I have bought including the 52mm polorizer thread very nicely
