A pricey filter for a precious lens

Why spend this kind of money for a clear piece of glass? Well, I just spent a bundle on this beautiful 60 mm AFS Nikon Micro lens and I wanted to protect the front glass of the lens and still get undistorted pictures in challenging light situations. Does it work? Is it worth the extra $$$? Let me just tell you that the cheaper filters caused all sorts of distortion and double images especially with my nightscapes. Protector for Nikon Zoom

By

from Colorado  -  Photo Enthusiast

This filter is being used on a Nikon 28 -85 mm 3.5-4.5 zoom lens (older AFn generation). It replaced a Tiffen UV protector which vignetted in the 28mm focal length. The thin profile of the Nikon filter eliminated this. This was a used filter. After cleaning it with a microfiber cloth it looks new and unused. Since this is the only lens that had the vignetting problem, I won't replace all of my other protectors (Hoyas, Tiffens and B&W) but any future lens acquisitions will have Nikons.

Does what its supposed to do

What can you say? It's a nice clear filter used primarily to protect an expensive lens. I believe one should always cover their expensive glass with whatever they can afford.

I use Nikon clear filters on all my lenses for protection. I favor clear filters, because I want as little effect on my photos as possible.

Great filter

By

from Alexandria, VA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I love Nikon NC filters because they are affordable and high quality. They are also easy to keep clean compared to some other filters which get stubborn smudges.

Great Filter and Great Price!

All of my lenses get a protective filter, and it has saved my lenses in the past. Prevents dirt, glass scrapes and cracks. Protect your lens, this is a great filter to use!

Protect your lenses front element

By

from San Francisco Bay Area  -  Pro Photographer

I use these Nikon clear filters on all my lenses. They do not degrade the image quality from what I can see and I would rather clean the filter than be wiping the front coated element of my lenses.
