I'm not familiar with the FE body type. However, if it holds most of
the Nikon family of fixed and variable lenses (50, 85, 105, 17-55, etc)
than you should be good to go. If you're still doubtful, join a Nikon group

The BF-1B has now replaced the BF-1A.
Though I ordered the BF-1A for my old D2x, I received the BF-1B. It works fine.
This statement from Nikon USA from their website:
"BF-1A SLR Body Cap- Please note: camera may have shipped with BF-1A. This item is no longer available. The BF-1B (4347) has replaced the BF-1A."
Just use the BF-1B for ALL Nikons and replaces all of the body caps on old Nikon models. It fits fine.

If you misplace your body cap
If you loose your nikon body cap and try and search for it and do not know the correct term to put in the search box. Pick up the phone and call Adorama, they will give you the correct terminology. Then you can order on line. Thanks for the great customer support Adorama...

Cover that body!
It's desirable to carry a second body and much easier to store with just a body cap in place. This is the newest version necessary for today's digital DSLRs.

Important accessory
It does its job to protect the internal parts of the body. I think that it definitely should be used when ever your camera is away.

What can I say?
This is an essential for Nikon. If you need to leave the lens off your camera body for any reason, you need to have one of these to cover the hole. Especially if you shoot digital, since having dust on your image sensor is super annoying.

Necessary!
One thing I really hate is when someone ([...]for example) wants to sell a lens or camera and they don't have a cap.I know usually one has a lens on...but really. It worries me that their product needs cleaning if they are so lazy as to not have a cap.

Easy order-great product.
The camera body cap allows me to store all of my lenses in the case without being attached to the camera. It protects the inside of the camera from dust and debris. Wouldn't want to be without it.

I like that this really hasn't changed that much. I got this to put on my Dad's F80. I have a D300 and a D40. Same fit, same mount.
