It's desirable to carry a second body and much easier to store with just a body cap in place. This is the newest version necessary for today's digital DSLRs.

It does its job to protect the internal parts of the body. I think that it definitely should be used when ever your camera is away.

This is an essential for Nikon. If you need to leave the lens off your camera body for any reason, you need to have one of these to cover the hole. Especially if you shoot digital, since having dust on your image sensor is super annoying.

One thing I really hate is when someone ([...]for example) wants to sell a lens or camera and they don't have a cap.I know usually one has a lens on...but really. It worries me that their product needs cleaning if they are so lazy as to not have a cap.

The camera body cap allows me to store all of my lenses in the case without being attached to the camera. It protects the inside of the camera from dust and debris. Wouldn't want to be without it.

I like that this really hasn't changed that much. I got this to put on my Dad's F80. I have a D300 and a D40. Same fit, same mount.
