Use to carry in messenger bag or think tank airport case. Confident my 28-70 is well protected.
I had already one of the cases for the Nikon 24-70. When I bought the Zeiss T* 15mm f2.8 I scoured the internet for a decent case until I noticed that it fit in this case. The fit for this lens is understandably not perfect since it is not intended for it, but at least my expensive glass has some good protection when not in use.
I thought this pouch was alright, but after just a few expeditions the belt loop started to tear off, just from hiking around with the lens in the pouch. Reasonably good protection but not durable at all. Same thing happened with the Nikon sb-900 pouch I have.
This case is a waste of time for protection of the lens. I think Nikon said;"for this amount of money we better give them something a little better then cardboard" This is just a good way to ship the lens. The case is not useable unless you put the whole thing in your camera bag. Do not by it unless you get it with the lens purchase. Buy a Tamrac instead!
