Pretty good

Very helpful for keeping lens shaded when shooting toward the sun. MUCH better than those rubber things because those end up showing in the corners of the pictures when zoomed out. This one will never show even when on wide angle. My only complaint is that it is not very secure on the camera--it falls off sometimes. The last time it popped off I didn't notice until I had hiked a mile or two, so now I'm buying a new one. But if you're deciding between this and one of those horrible rubber ones...

As noted, pretty poor

Shadows the image at certain focuses, but more importantly it doesn't attach securely and with only a miniscule strip of thin plastic at the attachment point one bump in a crowd breaks it. Disappointed.

Original one broke at the lens connection. Thjis one is just like the original, nice and tight.

Just like the original

By

from Mundelein, IL  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

Everything is exactly like the original that came with the lens including the fact that after only a few jars, twists, and turns of the camera it falls off, which is the reason I had to buy this replacement. Looking for an answer to how to keep it attached better.

Nikon Lens Hood

The lens hood is great to prevent glare. You have to watch that it doesn't come loose. I've lost one, but overall it's a good product.

The replacement lens good does exactly as designed. A duplicate of the original. Of course, it is a bit fragile which is why I need a replacement.

Excellent lens hood

The only thing I would correct is how it latches on to the lens I have lost two of them already, they will pop off if you just bang the hood on something like the back of a chair or table so now I bought the lens cap leash II from Adorama. It attaches to the hood and the elastic loop fits around the lens so if it does pop off you won't lose it.

Shades like anything

By

from Fairfax, Va  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

The original lens shade died a heroic death protecting the 18-200 zoom to which it was attached (hyperactive 5 year old running by caused the lens to smack into an immovable object). Wide angles are particularly vulnerable to sun issues, so a replacement was a must. Adorama delivered in a couple days. Reasonable cost, identical to OEM part, Sunday order and three-day delivery add up to a satisfied customer

Perfect replacement

By

from Ohio  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

I lost my lens hood, but didn't think it was a big deal, until I began a photography class. Now I understand that the hood serves two purposes: to guard against flare, and to protect the lens itself from damage if it is bumped into objects. I had read another review, claiming it fell off easily. I suspect that user hadn't learned to place it on correctly. It needs to be aligned with the white dot, and then twisted into place. When not in use (ie: when the camera is in the bag), it can be twisted off and placed on backwards, so it takes no space. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JOSEPH H  I thought I lost the one I had and later found it, Now I have a spare. It fits too loose, Nikon needs to redesign it.
Jack S  will this hood fit on a 18-140 - 67mm lens?
GREGORY K  While I do not have the specific lens (18-140mm), its a 67mm lens and the 18-200 is a 72mm lens. I would expect this lens hood most likely does not work with the 18-140 lens. I do have the 18-200 and an HB-35 which I then tried to use on a 67mm lens and as suspected, it did not fit. I did a number of searches and there currently is nothing I could easily locate for this particular lens. I have a 18-105 mm lens (67mm) and suspect you probably need the Nikon HB-32 lens hood
Shopper  Can I use it for nikkor 18-55 mm VR ?
JOAN G  I no longer own the 18-55, but did see that you need the HB 45 for that lens, not the HB 35.
