The rubber hood folds back over the lens and makes storage a little better. I leave it in place always.

i will use the product for personal photography. The quality is as good as it gets. Nikon engineers have thought of everything. There is little more that could have made the product any beftter.

Lens hood, well-enough made to also provide shock protection for plastic-bodied lenses.Have a neutral uv filter between from element and hood. Dropped one 3 ft and only lost filter. Considered a HR-2 but thought it might shatter Nikon's from stuff on impact.

I used it with my 50mm f/1.4 afd. It helps preventing flares when shooting landscape outdoors. It is collapsible so I leave it on my lens all the time.

I carry a lot of gear. The space-saving aspect of a collapsable hood is a plus. Being a Nikon product I just assume it will be durable. An evaluation maybe a bit premature as I jusst started using it.

Works great on any of the 50mm Nikkors to prevent flare and ghosting. Also adds another level of protection.

I have some of these lens shade's that are 25 years old. I have no off brand that's older than 4 months. The HR-1 and HR-2 are the same product.
