Screwed on to the lens easily. Nice and deep so it will keep any flares out as needed. Price was reasonable and arrived as stated.

Nothing fancy about it, but does the job. My first rubber lens hood! Would recommend.

Works great. Folds back out of the way when not in use. Would recommend this item.

Has all the benefits of a lens hood, and also protects the lens from casual bumps

It didn't fit in any of my lenses at all. It's way too small

This lens hood is very nice as it is soft and effective.

I needed a hood for my Nikkor 50mm lens and this is perfect. It folds up compactly, yet retains perfect shape when extended. While I cannot compare it to other vendor hoods, this one appears very well constructed and the rubber seems to be of very good quality - should last for many years. Very satisfied - both with the hood and the tremendous service from Adorama.

Not as clunky as Nikon's hard shades. Folds back over lense to make a compact package to fit in pouches and pockets. and perhaps provide some protection. Likes it enough to by two

What can I say? It does what it's supposed to do. USPS took their time delivering it (a week), but that's not Adorama's fault. Good protection for a lens, and cleverly folds back for storage.

Lens Hood that does a perfect job and is a perfect fit.

I use this hood for every shot with my 50mm fast lens to prevent lens glare. It serves it's function, and the threading doesn't bother me. It feels very secure on the lens that way. The flexible material is so great. I was worried about it fitting in my case since the camera just fit without the hood, but it works perfectly when it's collapsed down!

I needed a lens hood for my 50mm prime lens. I like the collapsible nature of this hood because it can fit pretty flat in my camera bag. However, it is a threaded attachment and not as easy as the newer hoods for Nikon's "G" lenses.

I purchased this for the Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF Lens. I like the collapsable aspect of this hood and the flexible material it's made from. The thread mount makes it a bit more difficult to attach than the hood for the newer f/1.4G lens. Still it's what's available for the lens I have and is definitely needed to help with lens glare.

Had to break down and pay the inflated price because I love the 50mm 1.4 that much!

I've been meaning to get a hood for my 50mm and this works great! The soft rubber is so much better than the hard plastic and it's nice how it collapses when storing the camera with the lens on. I can't believe why I waited so long to get one of these. This has nothing to do with it's function, but having the hood on a small lens like the 50mm makes it look more balanced when using a flash.

This didn't fit my Nikon 50mm 1.4 AF-S. I was very disappointed, because the description said it would fit a "50mm 1.4"...didn't realize the AF-S made a difference in the size. Not too happy that I'm going to have to send it back. If anyone out there know where to find a rubber hood for the AF-S lens, please post here!

The Little 50mm Nikkor lens looks a bit dwarfed sitting on my D700..and I have bumped it slightly at times...NOT any more,it sticks out,is firm yet flexible...and adds character to my little lens, somwhat like a tuxedo would.

I lost the first one I bought, so I got a second one. Every single lens, small, big, cheap, expensive, should have it's hood. Main reason: protection. This works well as it can be folded, and still keeps it's shape. My only con, as usual, is that all lenses should come ALWAYS with their hood, but oh well, for some you have to buy them separately.

This is the hood for the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens. It fits perfectly and does what it is supposed to do. It is rubber, but there is a benefit to being able to fold it back to stow--quick, efficient and doesn't take up space. It works with a filter too: screw filter to lens, screw hood to filter, and attach lens cap to inner ring of hood (just as you would to the lens itself). The hood also makes the lens at least look a little more substantial than it actually is (but does not add to the weight).

This Nikon lens hood is a perfect fit for the 50mm 1.8. The hood also "folds" up for even easier storage.

A real necessity for the general protection of your glass and to keep flare and glare to a minimum. Being able to roll back the hood (because its rubber) when quickly changing filters is also a big plus.

I already own a Vivitar 52mm metal hood but the Nikon rubber hood works much better. It has much less chance to damage my expensive lens and other gears.

I didn't expect much from a rubber hood, but it is actually VERY nice

I use this lens hood w/ the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D. It's easily collapsible and very light weight and sturdy!

I have noticed a slight difficulty in manual focus with my 50mm lens. I use this hood on a 2137 Nikon lens with a Nikon D60 camera.

Good rubber lens hood for several lenses - I use mine on a 50 1.8D. It serves multiple purposes and I think it's worth the money. It's just a piece of fitted rubber, but it will help with flares and may help with stuff banging in or dropping on your lens.

I like the quiet no noise protection with this hood while I'm moving around to get the next shot. Slides easily into my smaller bag while backpacking. I am still able to screw on the filter I need for the conditions.

I use most of the time an UV filter or polarizing filter on my 50 mm prime lens. Without the hood the filter will pick up side light and affect the picture. When collapsed the hood offers added protection for the camera mounted lens.

Works great on any of the 50mm Nikkors to prevent flare and ghosting. Also adds another level of protection.

Best on the market

Costs a little more than others, but Nikon stays true to form and makes a product just *that* much better than the rest. Hood is a tad wider, deeper, and made of better rubber than any other off-brand hood I have tried for less. Does great to block the sun and folds tight and flat when not in use. Screws cleanly onto lens and filters and doesnt "gum up". Use it with my Nikon AF 50f/1.8D, 24f/2.8D, 35f/2D and 50f1.4D primes. Dont skimp here, get this hood. Its a cut above the rest.
Very Cool!

Got this for my Nikon 50 f/1.4. I shoot a lot of weddings outside during sunset and the sun is always in my lens. This thing is so cool. It keeps excess light out of my lens and it folds over the lens, flat, when I don't need it so I don't have to even take it off the lens to store it. And it doesn't take up any space in my already crowded camera bag!
Screws onto the front of the lens. Metal type available for extra strength. Rubber type folds back over the lens when not in use. For 50/1.2, Noct 58/1.2, AF 50/1.4, AF 50/1.8
