Great!

I used a step up ring (or was it down?) to put a larger filter on my 20mm lense. Needed the lens cap to fit the new filter size. Works great!

Lens cap has no safety hookup to camera.

Lens cap releases easily. It's good because it comes off in no time at all BUT it's bad because it just comes off as easily even if you don't want to take it off. I bought my camera 3 days before I went on vacation and lost the lens cap the 2nd day of my vacation. Had the camera hanging over my neck. When it was time to take pictures, lens cap was gone. For the price to replace it, I think there should be a safety hookup to the camera so it's not lost so easily. Had to carry the camera in the camera case for the rest of my vacation and that wasn't convenient. By the time you take the camera from the bag, you've already missed a good photo opportunity. I'm so disappointed. The camera is great though.

Just like what came with the camera

Lost my original lens cap down a 20 foot deep pit latrine in Uganda - used a ziploc bag and rubber band until I got to Belgium and replaced it with a cheapie that got knocked off too easily. This one gets knocked off less easily, just like the original (that's how I lost it in the first place).

Perfectly Functional -- But Buy Two

By

from Washington, DC  -  Photo Enthusiast

I love these Nikon lens caps because I can remove them without looking by just cupping my hand around the cap and squeezing. I suppose the downside to having an easily edge-activated release is that I bump into things on occasion with my ever-present camera and every now and then inadvertently release and lose the lens cap. But for me, the ease of ordinary usage makes it worth losing a few caps. I always keep a replacement in each size I need on hand when I travel.

Better than original on lens

I always find the lost lens cap when I get a new one. However, this one has a stronger spring and can't be knocked off.

Just like the original, which I lost down a really deep hole. And just like the original, it comes off too easily.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
CLIFFORD S  I lost my original.
jerry m  do you have one with a cord so not to lose it?
CLARE C  Mine did not have a cord.
Shopper  Is this for the nikon 1, j1?
SUZY B  No. This is for a 72mm lens. My J1 has a 40.5mm lens. Look at your lens. There will be a number (40.5). See if it doesn't read 10-30mm 1:3-5.6 VR then symbol "O" with slash 40.5. Great lens cap just the wrong size for that camera.
