Essential tool for night photography

I have used this remote cord a LOT, and consider it an essential item in my camera bag at all times. Good value

By

from Poplar Bluff, MO  -  Photo Enthusiast

Price seems high but it is easier to install on the camera, works very smoothly, and has good separation between the focus and shutter release functions. I find a remote trigger release a necessity for good closeup and macro work. It appears to be built to last, as it should at this price.

You get what you pay for in this case

By

from Virginia  -  Semi-Professional

This replaced my original one that I had for 5 years (the wire finally frayed). Third party (I keep one for a spare) remotes work but just are not as robust as the Nikon unit. The new Nikon model has a much improved knurled screw for attatching to the camera socket (the old one was almost imposible to use easily).

Nikon MC-30A Remote Trigger Release

By

from Stockton, CA  -  Semi-Professional

It is not only a must for long exposure shooting but also need for a better landscaping photography. It is always with me for landscape , hours long exposure ( Star trail, light trail ... and now ready for Lunar Eclipse ). Functional, solid and beautiful design by the name I trust - Nikon. This is my second to replace the lost one on the trip to Maui, lowest price and fast delivery from Adorama.

Wrong cord

By

from Stuart Florida  -  Semi-Professional

This cord doesn't fit the Df. The older cords do fit and work well which makes expense much less!

Works great!

By

from Bradford, Ohio  -  Semi-Professional

Great for those situations where camera shake could be an issue. I do wish the connection to the camera were simpler - I'm afraid of breaking one of the prongs. You just have to take your time and line it up perfectly.

Better than the MC-30 model

By

from Inverness, FL  -  Professional

I use a remote release for HDR and landscape shooting. I also have one mounted on a BushHawk for bird shooting. I used the MC-30 for several years, but I just switched to the MC-30a. It is much easier to install and remove because of the new connector.

Nicely improved!

By

from New Hampshire  -  Hobbyist/Enthusiast

I had the older MC-30 remote, and it was a joke getting it threaded into the camera. I pushed rubber washers onto it for something to get a hold of, and often not wanting to fuss with it, I left it attached. This caused unusual wear putting in and taking from camera case. Mine died too soon. I decided to roll the dice on a new unit, the MC-30a and wow what a difference. It has a larger finger wheel that works great. Worth every penny .....Thanks Nikon!

Works

By

from Upstate NY  -  Professional

A necessary piece of equipment, and I trust the quality of Nikon. It should be less expensive, but I was unwilling to sacrifice what I know will work (and continue working) for anything less.

Shopper  Doed it work on a D300? If not what will?
AL D  After loosing my last Nikon Trigger Release after years of use I decided to try an off brand one for a fraction of the cost. It lasted about two months. Then I ordered another MC-30A. Nikon fixed the one gripe I had about it: the old ones had such a small attachment ring that it was often took a lot of fiddling around to get the threads started into the camera. Nikon has enlarged the ring and attachment is no longer a problem. Great!
Nomi W  Can this be used for the D200?
ROBERT M  Yes, the MC-30A will work on the D200.
