Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?STEPHEN T : I have 3 of the SB-900 flashes. I use them with PocketWizard Flex units for remote triggering. Enjoy the tilt and swivel head. Like the new switch that quickly allows selection of on-camera or remote (CLS mode) settings. Only down size is the large size compared to the SB-800 or 600. Have not had any problems with thermal shutdown. I would recommend purchasing low-discharge batteries and a better smart charger than was offered in this bundle.FELIX V : Nikons Flagship speed lite expensive but worth it.Jon lynn B : should have never got it. this flash has a problem working with the D3... Nikon does not have an answer for this problem..... dont buy it if its for a D3.. get a used sb800

Goodness, but at what price?

Improves on the SB-800 (which it apparently has replaced) in many ways, but it's the simplest improvements that are most appreciated. The sliding on/off switch is a huge leap from the hold-it-for-two-seconds button on the SB-800... but we're paying a [$] premium to get it. Ditto for the overheating protection circuitry. Most folks will never use some of the esoteric features the SB-900 provides, but it handles the basics with no fuss. Other than the price I'd recommend it without reservation.
