• The SC-29 Off Camera AF TTL Cord, which mounts to the camera's hot shoe, enables an attached SB-600, SB-800 & S9-800 flash to accurately autofocus in low light when placed on a flash bracket, for beautiful shadowless lighting.

I recently jumped from the world of film to digital when I went from a faithful F5 to the D700. The F5 and an old Ftn still sit on a shelf in my library ready to go whenever I need them and over the years, a few other Nikon F series went as trade-ins for several newer versions. As reluctant as I was to go digital, the D700, SB900 and the SC-29 cord all helped to make the transition fairly seamless and opened new chapters of creativity for me. My bag full of Nikon glass all made the transition and a new 400mm zoom also joined the team. The seasonal magazine that I publish has taken on a new look which seems to have pleased the readers. It also helps to have a good local Nikon dealer who has guided me through each step of the way.

Shoe Poorly Made
After 3 months on a bracket, the shoe that now holds the SB-800 flash has become so unstable that the connection is not continuously maintained. I suspect it will totally fail soon.

I mean, they work and do what they're supposed to do, but only for about 18 months. I've had to purchase one of these about every year and a half to 2 years over the past 10 years.
The CS-29 was my first purchase of used camera equipment via the internet and it was a pleasant surprise for the skeptic that I am. I only bought this CS-29 because a new one wasn't available and I knew I would return it if not satisfied. Testing all CLS and AF assist light functions determined that the sync cord works properly. The cord still has a tight coil and the connections are solid. It was in excellent condition as advertised save for some very minor dust in some crevices and tiny scratches on the red AF assist window. I will take the money that I saved on this purchase and apply it to the next item on my endless wish list, a flash bracket.
I love this cable. I finally got away from the awful red eye effect from my "on camera flash". The hot spots on people's faces are gone forever!! I have the freedom to bounce the light from almost anywhere (walls, ceilings, and objects).
There is no Male Hot shoe connection for the remote end to connect to my stroboframe. I had to take the hot shoe adapter off of the stroboframe. This fact should be in the details and photos. Also not have a PC socket is a bummer. Its not the first time Nikon has forgotten important parts for a camera.
When I use a TTL speedlight off camera...direct or bounce...this cord allows the full TTL function. It is well made.
Matches up perfectly with my flash. Plan on keeping them for a long time.
Brand names cost more but the quality and perqace of mind for compatibility and long term reliability is worth every cent extra!
I USE THIS FOR WEDDINGS AND PORTRIATS(CANDIED)
When you have to be mobile and can't get the flash off camera on a light stand, use it with a camera bracket to get the flash off camera without having to hold the flash in one hand. It also helps to eliminate red eye when used with a bracket.
Got mine and used it right away for some portrait work does a good job
