Terrific flash recycle times! Allows you to get solid flash performance and an average of about 750 strong flashes before recharging the batteries.

I had trouble with my Nikon SB-800 Flash Unit " eating " batteries when I used it at full strength indoors shooting weddings, parties, portraits " bounced " from ceiling. I was told that this extra battery pack would give me constant power that I needed and quick recharge times. I was very happy to say that I was able to shoot OVER 300 flash photos of political event " bounced " on every shot. The flash recharged very " quickly " and kept up with my constant flash shooting. I used the four batteries in my Nikon SB-800, the 5th battery on flash cover and the 5 extra batteries in this Power Pack.

Great product, just didn't include a screw to attatch the battery pack to the bottom of the camera.

This is a excellent compliment to the SB-800 or SB-900. I do many wedding's & party's and I don't ever miss a shot due to having to wait on my flash to recycle. Well worth the money!

This thing rocks. I use it when I know I will only need to shoot about 100-125 shots or so. When using the SB-800 or 900 the recycle times are very short. It is so much lighter, but not as long lasting as a Turbo. A stap would be nice as some others have said. But the unit is so small and light that I just put it in my pocket and forget about it.

I used it for a wedding and reception two days after I received it. I didn't have any problems, and it kept my flash "live". This was a great investment.

This is simply fantastic. For weddings and events I have one of these on each of my SB-800s. I use one setup while charging all of the other AA batteries. I have to switch out SB-800s because they get too hot with the short recycle time this thing gives. Well worth the money, you won't be disappointed. I don't worry about the lack of a clip or strap. I take it out of the case and stick it in my back pocket or ball-bungee it to a light stand when using one.

I like the compact size and the extra power it provides.Works like expexcted. Needs a belt clip, not the belt loop. I have it hanging of my camera strap.

Overall performs very well. Quick recharge during full power flash use. Wish it had included a strap to hang over the shoulder. However I found that if you lace the camera strap thru the belt loop on the back of the case it will hang on your camera strap and still be close enough for the cable to attach to your flash.

This device needs a strap. If I had realized that it didn't have one, I may not have ordered it. There is a place for a strap so why not include one for this price?

I use the this to provide faster recycle times and so I don't have to swap out batteries in my SB-800. So far I have used it at 1 high school swim meet. I noticed after about 150 shots it started to take bit longer to recycle. I plan on testing it out more but I am definitely glad I purchased it!

This battery pack is lighter than most for flash and camera . The only thing I don't like is it doesn't have a led light to let you know the batteries are getting low.

I use the SB 8A with the Nikon SB800 and the SB80 on a D2x and D200 as backup. The recycle time on the flashes are almost instantaneous with the SB8A and I use AA rechargable batteries that I got at Sams that seem to last forever. I nearly 700 shots using the initial charge before it slowed down. Highly recommended. The connecting cord is a pain most of the time, but necessary.

Shooting bicycle racing with an SB800 to throw some light on the riders faces. Fast cycling is necessary - and this is much better than the standard battery pack. It could be better - it doesn't keep up with the camera, and I'd prefer if the cord orientation was opposite (so the wires came into the flash from the other side). But - it does what it does, and that's a pretty good thing.

The SD-8A is designed for use with the SB-800, SB-80DX and SB-27 to shorten flash recycling time and enhance flash capacity. It accepts six 1.5V LR6 (AA size alkaline), 1.2V KR-AA (AA size NiCd), 1.5V FR6 (AA size lithium) or 1.2 AA size Ni-MH batteries.
