I bought an accident policy for a lens. I've never actually used any extended warranties I've bought but I guess I'm just a sucker. Anyway a crazy rogue wave sent me swimming in the Pacific Ocean along with 4 other people. Unfortunately I had my camera with me. (Found out later there had been earthquakes in Alaska that was probably the cause, but didn't know anything about that at the time.) I call up New Leaf and tell them about what happened and how I need a new lens within 4 1/2 weeks because I'm leaving for a once in a lifetime trip to Alaska. No problem they say. First they have me sending the lens to a tv repair place-good thing I called them to see if I could just bring it to them instead of mailing. The next place only sold lenses. Finally I send it cross-country with a promise of an answer in 5 business days from when they receive it. 3 weeks later I get the lens back in the mail still broken. I knew the lens probably wasn't salvageable but I needed the factory to say that. I finally had to just buy a new lens. I get home a month later thinking I'll have a check from New Leaf by now to help cover the expense of my new lens. Nope. Call them today, still no resolution and this is over 2 months later. Now I'm still waiting on getting the value of the lens so they can reimburse me. Seriously how long can that take. That's where you were at a month ago. My advice, get a policy through your homeowners/renters policy. It cost me about $14/year. At least they're easier to deal with and mine covers accidents even dropping your camera. New Leaf has completely let me down and still no resolution months later.
i haven't yet used a service plan but hoping if i have to ever use it, it will be great
Was able to purchase a highly recommended product at a great price.
