I started using the Novatron Fun Kit in the 80s and have not changed. They give me more then enough power for portraits, even of large groups. I bought some larger umbrellas, but other than that I haven't changed a thing. I drag them all over the state and like a Timex...they keep on ticking. I highly recommend this for the beginning studio photographer. A flash meter is a nice accessory to have, also.

This is my 2nd 240 Kit. The quality is just getting better. I was impressed with the fairly heavy-duty light stands that came with the kit. It works perfect with my digital camera.

I've used this kit for years in my newspaper and magazine work. It is light and easy to load/carry. It works well, and I like using the raw light without the umbrellas. It gives a strong look to the images. I also use softboxes with optional softbox brackets that are attached to the light heads. This is one big flaw with the heads, though. They weren't designed with softboxes in mind, so the brackets are odd and hard to use compared to better brand lighting systems. Also, the carry case is absolutely horrible, but better than nothing. I know novatron is not the most admired brand out there, but brand name doesn't matter in the end. just put a piece of gaffers tape over the novatron logo, and take amazing shots with an easily portable kit, with enough power to shoot groups of four people or less.

Plenty of strobe power, even at the very minimum setting. I rarely need more than 25% power, and the flash always recycles fast. This is a great kit that is easy to set up and tear down on location, and the compact kit is easy to transport and store.

I've owned my system for almost 8 years now and it's still going strong. What's great is that the whole system fits into one case for easy transportation to location shooting. Flashes recycle very quickly.

The Fun Kit is the most popular kit in the Novatron family and now includes the newest power pack, the V240-D. This pack is a major redesign of the popular 240 Pack, and features faster recycle time, double the power adjustment range of its predecessor, and infinitely variable power output control.
The Powerpack is Digital Compatible. Sync voltage is 6 Volts, as required by Electronic and Digital Cameras.
All components are fully compatible with all Novatron systems. This allows the beginner to integrate their purchase to an increasingly versatile group of products. This same kit is available without a hard case, order part number K-V240D-2C.
