Mech Error

By

from Fredericksburg, VA

I experienced the same problem as another post. I bought the ONKYO DX-C390 6 CD changer. When it arrived the box and all of the insulation material was fine. I plugged in the unit, turned it on and got MECH ERROR on the display. I couldn't get it to work. I placed three calls to the 800 number that said they were available 24/7. I left three messages and over a four-day period, never got a call back. I've never seen such bad quality and horrific service. Recommend not buying it!

It arrived - "Dead on Arrival (DOA)...."

I can't really evaluate this player. When it came, I was excited to get it setup. The box appeared brand new. However, immediately out of box, I get the LCD warning "Mech Error," and the player would neither open/close or play at all. Nothing I tried could get it to function at all. In addition, please make sure that you have enough room on your shelving to accommodate this player. It looks to be well made, but it is huge as it's a 6-disc changer model, and it very well would probably big too large for many an installation. So I sent it back because as I mentioned, it was DOA, and I decided to get a refund instead. It's a shame really, because it is a seemingly well constructed and attractive player.

Questions about this item:

vi k  does it have the random play feature? thank you.
KEN K  Yes, it does. Seems to actually work too. My previous Onkyo CD changer bagged it after twenty-five plus years, lost its brains. I am happy with the replacement.
