It provided the right amount of light for what I was shooting. The softboxes don't come together all too well though.

this is an awesome kit for an amateur or pro who needs extra lighting, and is easy to set up and use right out of the box.

I'm using these with diffusers for documentation of artworks. The lights are best for small to medium sized objects, portraits, etc. For large scale they don't cover enough area, but for paintings up to around 30 x 30 inches they have done remarkably well, close to reproduction quality. It's wise to take spot readings off a white or gray surface and line up the lights carefully, obviously, but with that in mind you can get good even illumination. Five levels of illumination for each unit is a plus.

I wanted a continuous lighting system to supplement my monolights, and a fluorescent system because of the low power draw, near daylight color temperature, and cool operation. This is a good overall system for studio photography and comparable to systems costing 2-3 times as much.

I bought these lights for my home studio and they work well. I don't think that they live up to their rated wattage, but they are good enough for a full length portrait if you shoot at ISO 400. I would not recommend them for film shooters.
