It does what it's supposed to. No TTL, attaches firmly to camera, but the cable socket is a little loose.

I've used a number of these adapters from different manufacturers. There are two factors - physical and electronic. This one isn't great physically: it does the job but it isn't very tight (although it's locked on to the camera shoe, it is a bit wobbly). This adapter appears to function correctly with wireless flash triggers (some of the adapters don't work with all flash units). I've tried it successfully with both speedlights and monolights.

I purchased this adapter to work with some YungNuo radio triggers I bought off of [...]. It works perfectly and is much cheaper than the Sony version. It does not allow TTL but that is fine by me.

Sony/Minolta cameras do not have a standard Hotshoe on the top of the camera. This means you will not be able to fit many useful accessories like standard Infrared triggers, radio triggers etc so you will need one of these to enable their use.
Most of the Sony / Minolta range of cameras also do not have a P.C.Sync cable socket, so we have built one in to the STR114 adaptor to enable you to use this with Interfit Studio lighting kits such as the Ex150 MKII kits.
