Questions & Answers

Beth L : Is there any where you can buy a lid for this tray? Doesn't have to be tight but must protect chemicals from the light.GABRIEL R : I didn't look for a lid, but probably you can find a thin plastic sheet that can be cut for this size. GabrielWILLIAM M : Contact Petterson these are Developing tray and stop bath and fix trays . B&W Chemicals do not need to be protected from light just the B&W paper only. Safe Light needs to be used in a darkroom when Developing Paper in Trays. Dispose Chemicals after Developing do not re-use Developer or stop Bath. Only Fixer can be Re-Used but must be checked with Hypo Chek for Fixer Exaustion. cant figure why you need a lid?Martin D : I have never seen lids for these trays, what chemicals do you wish to protect from Iight and why?STUART B : Not to my immediate knowledge. I suppose you could look at storage bin lids at the home center. I usually mix a single use batch of developer, stop bath and fixer are not nearly as sensitive. I recycle my first fix as my. Second, and toss the second. Stop bath is so ridiculously cheap, it's not worth the effort. Stu RAYMOND G : I use another tray, inverted. Or a buy sign board (corrugated plastic) from a hardware store.KAREN W : I don't know of any place that sells one,nor have ever seen such a thing in our university dark rooms but if you are just trying to keep the light out to preserve the chemicals I would look in a kitchen supply web-site for a cookie sheet that is larger than the top of the tray. When turned upside down the lips on the side of the pan would keep it on the developing tray. Not exactly a finished look but at least it might accomplish what you need. The only other way to treat this issue, and maybe an easier way, is to get a light tight bottle for each mix and pour them out after each use. Good Luck!LINDA L : I've never seen lids for sale. We used to use a sheet of plexiglass for temporary cover to minimize air exposure if we wanted to leave chemicals in the tray overnight. I would think anything flat and opaque could work for you. But even covered, the life of the chemicals was reduced compared to pouring them back into bottles for storage after each session.RICHARD P : Hi, just buy the next larger size tray and place it upside down over the smaller chemical filled tray.MARK W : I have never seen a tray cover. When I want to cover my trays I invert another one and place it on top.BARRY R : I don't know of any lids made for trays. Perhaps a custom made one, maybe an outdoor sign manufacturer/installer can do that for you. I doubt it will be light-tight, though. Easier to make the room the tray is in light-tight.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?DAVID A : White with known qualityRichard R : right sizeAvra S : As a gift for Avra --marble paper

Sturdy, even when full of chemicals.

16"x 20" Paterson photographic processing trays are very sturdy and well made. Even with a considerable amount of liquid in them, they can be lifted without worry of buckling.

Perfect for 8x10 Printing and small darkrooms

Purchased 3 trays to set up my very first darkroom, working with extremely limited space constraints. Can't fault these for construction or in use, and the size is perfect (also, they stack really well so take up minimal space when not in use).

Excellent Trays

Excellent trays for 8x10. Ribbed bottoms and corner pour spouts. Thick material. Not cheap feeling at all.

Good, but dirty

Developing trays arrived dirty, with some sort of sticky black goo and scuff marks around the edges and the pour spout. It looked like they spent some time rattling around in the back of a truck. Once cleaned up, however, the trays themselves are nice. The ribs on the bottom make transferring prints between trays easy and quick. The pour spouts work well and do not drip the way other spouts sometimes do.

These are the second batch of these trays I have bought from Adorama

These are the second batch of these trays I have bought from Adorama.recently. I had used identical trays years ago for film photo print. They were great then and continue to be for our new uses in many artistic media that need the quality that is provided.

Not Just For Photos

Use is for soaking old drawings and prints to remove water or acid stains, etc. It's clean, deep enough and has a good pour corner that facilitates water changes.

Fine sturdy trays

I'm using these to develop 4x5 sheet film and they are working as expected. I'm using 30oz of chemical but could probably use significantly less if I was more proficient at agitating (via shuffling) sheet film.

Nice trays, bad sticker placement

Trays are nice, the only bad thing is that they had stickers glued to the inside and it took a bit of work to remove them. It would be more logical to place the stickers on the bottom of the trays instead of inside, you know, the place where you place your chemical solutions and photos?!

Molded from thick polypropylene, these trays are ideal for school and industrial use. They're chemical-resistant, incredibly durable, and their base ribbing ensures rigidity while preventing prints from sticking to the tray. The patented design keeps your thermometer from sliding into the solution, and every tray has an extra large pouring lip to minimize chemical splash. Base design gives maximum economy of solution and easy print removal; Pouring lip for drip-free emptying;
