About Panasonic 16:9 Anamorphic Lens for AG-DVX100 Camcorders

Adding this lens, allows that in addition to the 24p frame rate that is standard with the AGDVX100/AGDVC80 camera's, you can now shoot in the 16:9 aspect ratio, for film screening at film festivals, or wherever Wide-screen displays are used, your movie will cinematically format out in the 16:9 aspect ratio, instead of looking like a plain home movie in a 4:3 box with black bars running across the sides.

Although, most DV cameras come with a 16:9 shooting option, unless a camera supports Native 16:9, it is only imitating the 16:9 ratio by not cropping the top and bottom of your frame, losing valuable resolution. The true solution is to use an Anamorphic Lens that will optically truely stretch your image to the 16:9 aspect ratio without giving up on any resolution.
