About Photoflex

The unique shape of the OctoDome produces a beautiful "wraparound" style of lighting perfect for fashion photography and portraiture.

OctoDome has a unique eight-sided shape and a narrow profIle that allows you to achieve brilliant, "wraparound" lighting without compromising studio space.

By using a rear-mounted light setup, the OctoDome gives you significantly more light output than a standard reflective umbrella used with diffusion.

The graduated baffle maintains an even light spread and eliminates the hot spot to provide a beautiful, diffused light.

Photoflex OctoDome Softbank 7' Review

The product itself, when used with a sufficiently powered strobe, produces a beautifully even light. I've used this with great results for individuals, as well as groups up to 5. My only "complaint" about it is the assembly of the dome; it is not the easiest thing to do and wish there was a design that made it easier.

Didn't come with connector

By

from Calgay, AB  -  Professional

Were very disappointed to find that it didn't come with a connector. The instruction book shows it in the demonstation, but couldn't find it anywhere in the box. I called customer service and they didn't even know if it came with it or not because it was "not listed in the description anywhere.' After Adorama called Photoflex they turned around and told us it doesn't come with it. Now we have to pay $30 shipping to Canada for a [$] part. Going to order it though another supplier since they are a little cheaper.

7' OctoDome

By

from Cerro Azul, Peru  -  Photo Enthusiast

Because of its size, first time set up is a bit of a challenge. Well balanced and easy to attach, in spite of the size. Quick release ends help over come the learning curve and makes easy work during knock down after session. Thickened center on the baffle creates very even light over large area. Works well with full lenght or group photos.

Great even light. Easy and fast to set up. Good carrying case. Best softbox I've ever used.

Shopper  I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one? I would like to use it for portrait work. To use it like a large window light. Also as a high key background. Is it really 7 feet in diameter?
REBECCA B  Its huge. Perfect for a high key backlight. Biggest softbox Ive ever seen. Ive been using it for about a month and I love the soft light it gives. Best softbox for the price.

Using Bank Lights

First off, some bank light basics: Unlike umbrellas, bank lights are bulky (even when collapsed!), a pain to set-up, and equally frustrating to break down! Bank lights come in a huge variety of sizes to create beautiful, soft, directional light suitable for a huge variety of subjects.
