fits nice, very sturdy and works quite well. i doubt that the nikon at $350.00 can function any better. then how much are you willing to spend to hold an extra battery?

This grip works AWESOME with OEM batteries. With 3rd party Power 2000 batteries purchased at Adorama, this grip falls short. The camera will flash the battery sign with 1 bar if 3rd party batteries are used while attached. This can be resolved by unlocking the tray and breaking the connection (while camera is on)and sliding/locking into place. This is not something to do while on a shoot as it appears there is a malfunction with your camera. Using the grip makes vertical shooting much more comfortable and extends my shooting time. As long as you use OEM Nikon batteries, this product is a great deal allowing you to spend your saved money from Nikon grip on additional vital accessories (like more OEM Batteries).

The BG-D800M Looks great and has a professional feel to it, the finish is almost identical to the camera grip, mounts snug to the camera body. Only major downside is the shutter button feels flimsy and no were near the quality of the original shutter button, it requires a lot more effort to press and shoot and sometimes doesn't respond . The navigation toggle switch is over sensitive and always overshoots the target or the intended focus point, I find myself not using it at all. The two function dials seem to work fine. The BG-D800M works well for what you pay, although more effort should have been put into the shutter button as this is an important function for vertical shots. If your a casual photographer Im sure you will be fine with this Phottix Grip, if your a serious shooter then I suppose you already have the original Nikon grip and probably not reading this review.

Phottix BG-D800M Magnesium Battery Grip for Nikon D800 is a must buy, build quality is very nice and solid. Save yourself some cash and buy this for your d800, use the extra $$$$ for batteries and high capacity cards, you'll need and want them.

Bought this a two weeks ago, and i'm quite pleased. Build quality seems pretty solid and too heavy. Adds extra balance to camera, which is much needed for longer lenses. buy this instead of the branded version and load up on extra batteries.

Made from a tough magnesium alloy the BG-D800M for the Nikon D800 is the pro's choice the ultimate battery grip. This battery grip holds one EN-EL15 or eightAA size batteries. It is also equipped with a vertical-grip shutter button, dual control dials, multi-function controller and an AF-ON button.
