I bought my polar a little over 3 months ago and I love it. I started my weight loss journey back in September 2013 but the second picture is when I started using the Polar for feedback. I love it. Instant gratification. It lets me know when I need to pick up the pace. Even when I need to take in down a notch. I have a long way to go, but polar is an investment in my healthier lifestyle.

Not so great
Bought this a while ago and while a good heartrate monitor, it lacks some fundamental features that really matter to sport training. The biggest missing feature is a stop watch. Who makes a sports watch that dosent have a stop watch? I assumed a stop watch function would be present on the watch, even if not listed as a feature, as all digital watches come with a stop watch these days. I was disappointed with this purchase.

Yesterday I was wearing my clock and it was working normally, after a few minutes the watch turns off. I tried to replace the battery but it is in good condition. What problem may have the watch? I never have hit it. can anyone give me a clue please?
I am disappointed with the FT4. I purchased this 2.5 years ago, it was my second Polar. I love the simplicity of HR monitors and had great luck with my old Polar F4 for more than 4 years...unfortunately, when the old style chest strap ran out of battery, that was it, can't be replaced. I went with Polar again...the new chest strap design is bulky and doesn't work as well as the old one piece. Also, the past 1.5 years the FT4 has given me lots of trouble with transmission (I've tried everything) and batteries (both in the chest strap and watch) need more frequent replacement (less than a year). I wish it would work properly and I really do keep having hope. But I am about to give up, as I am taking on regular running again and need a reliable unit. I don't know if I will try Polar again...the 2 piece chest strap sucks. Bring back the old style, please!
I will not workout with out my watch...I love it...It motivates me to push harder.....
The FT4 is one of the most popular Polar watches out there. It's affordable, simple to use, and has all the features you need and none you don't. The quintessential entry-level heart rate monitor.
This is the second Polar FT4 I have bought and both have broken. I replaced the battery each time (yes, correct battery) and it still will not read my heart rate. I thought it was a fluke the first time so bought another. Mistake. It did the same thing within 6 months. What a waste of money.
Bought this as a birthday gift to myself and am thrilled with the product. It's comfy and I have worn the belt and watch all day on several occasions to calculate my RMR and how many calories burned while resting. This is priceless info when calculating my caloric and macro intake. :)
I received this as a gift a year ago. My preferred exercise is lap swimming and though the device clearly says that it is "suitable for swimming" it will not work. I tried using electrode creams and other things but it would not work at all. I had a lot of issues with the product and support sent me generic list of thing to try (use the transmitter upside down, use electrode cream, etc). My previous FT6 (purchased 4 years ago) worked great for all activities (without fuss or electrode cream) and the battery lasted a long time. I had to replace the battery on the FT6 after about 4 months. I lost the chest transmitter piece a couple of months ago. I'm going to buy the HT7 so I can use the transmitter with a phone or the FT4 and hopefully have better luck. Do not buy this item. Perhaps other Polar watches work better, this is a waste of money.
I bought this product about 4 months ago to keep track of how many calories burned during exercise. The watch calculates just that if it doesn't come undone. Would like a more secure belt, other than that, the watch is perfect.
I was given this item as a gift, less than a year ago. I use it quite often, however the band has left me several different scars, located where the heart rate monitor band lies across my chest. I love the product, but I've been forced to use it less often as it leaves me a new cut if used every day. Also, the band has fastener that allows for shortening and lengthening itself based on your size- if you're small it is difficult to wear as even the most fastened option is too big for myself and tends to slowly fall during exercise. I do like the product and the quality. I've avidly used it for my workouts since I received it, but the band is my only complaint. Is there perhaps another model you would recommend for me? Do you allow for trade ins if unhappy with a product?
I've had this for almost 2 years and it's served me well. The basic Heart rate monitoring and calorie tracking work great, and the strap fits well. I did find it comes undone occasionally while running if I haven't been careful while putting it on, and it may need to put on one way up for best grip. I'm finding that it is developing a sharp spot on the plastic connector just recently. My biggest dissappointment is in the WebSync - FT4 doesn't come with an uploading connector. Also, the free App you can get doesn't work on any of my Android devices. So I am stuck with the watch only, and no further info from uploading the data to my computer.
