Best heart rate monitor

I am not sure why some of these reviews are so negative. I have had the H7 for about a year now and have not had any problems with it. I love keeping all of my stats on my phone to help me make goals for myself and I can visually see when I am making progress. My heart rate has been consistently read (unlike a previous review). I have had no problems with my connection to my iPhone 5. I also really like having the GPS on the monitor/app. Other GPS monitors tend to be fairly expensive. I also ...

I also like that iit syncs with most fitness equipment. It automatically syncs to the spin bikes in spin class so I can monitor how I am doing. There are a few downsides. One, you have to have your phone close to you when you are using your monitor. This means you have to carry your phone around with you in the gym, which I hate. Two, it does not sync to myfitnesspal. I am sure this is something they are working on though since there are many complaints about this. Three, when I bought this in the store, I did not have size options for the band. I have a fairly small ribcage so the standard band does not fit snug. I have to tuck my monitor under my sports bra and sometimes the does not keep it up. I am not lowering my rating for this because I have this problem with all heartrate monitors.

Great idea poorly executed

I got this about a year ago and absolutely loved it. It would track my mileage, calories, etc just like the watch, but having it speak to me as i was running was awesome! Especially as the displays on the watches are small and hard to read without my glasses. Then one day it just didn't perform consistently. I'd be running like a mad woman and the monitor would state my heart rate was at 56. Then it would have it at 186. Then zero. I changed the batteries often, kept my heart rate sensor clea...

I changed the batteries often, kept my heart rate sensor clean, and still couldn't resolve the issue. Such a bummer for such a great concept. I also bought the Polar Beat upgrade and when i upgraded my phone, the upgrade didn't follow. Was definitely not happy with that as not sure why i would need to repurchase. Would love to see this product evolve!

The orginal was better

Maybe my problem is that I have had the T31 (or its equivalent) for over 20 years now without issue. While the new concept provides additional transmitting capabilities the design is flawed. As I’m a very active person doing running races, cycling and obstacle races. This design is too bulky and well it falls off. It is also not a cheap replacement when it does fall off and get lost.

don't waste your money

I regret buying this product. I brought it at the end of last year and it stopped working during the first use. Polar repaired it. It worked for a week after that and then stopped working again. I had the product for 6 months and it worked only 6 times.

Good product but bad on batteries

By

I have had the monitor for about 2 years and recently it has not been recognized by my phone although it is picked up by other exercise machines at the gym. I changed the battery and it solved the problem for about a week. A version that could be recharged would be ideal

Love it!

Just bought H7 today and within 15 seconds had it paired with my favorite cycling/running app Runkeeper! Went for a 15 mile ride and it worked perfectly. Less time fiddling with electronics leaves more time for life!

Excellent, works the way it should.

Like most people, I purchased this product to communicate directly with my phone. I also had similar connection issues the others had. These issues were occurring because I was also using my bluetooth headphones. If I used wired headphones, the issue did not occur. Fact #1 - This device only sends out a signal. Your phone is responsible for making the connection and remaining connected. Fact #2 - The bluetooth standard is not designed to support multiple devices at one time(sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't). My solution? I purchased the Polar Loop to track my fitness and cardio while my phone plays music and tracks my route with GPS.

Great idea, bad execution.

I bought my H7 three weeks ago; but I just returned it today for a full refund. It worked for about a week and stopped working. I went through the troubleshooting list to make sure everything was set up correctly, and bought two new batteries. Nothing worked. The Polar Beats and Polar Flow software also very rudimentary. This product was rushed to market before it was ready.

Ehh

I got my H7 HRM in April to pair with my Loop. They work fantastic together when the H7 works. I have had to replace my H7 twice now and having the warranty is starting to cost me. I've changed the battery and have done other troubleshooting and nothing : (. This product would be great if i didn't have to replace it every other month. It does not keep up with my high activity level.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Both the app and the monitor are unreliable.

I got just over one months use out of this monitor. Replacing the battery made no improvement. Clearly not ready for general use.
