Fairly solid but slightly inaccurate

from Sunnyvale, CA

To begin let me say that this adapter worked out of the box on 4 of the 5 lenses I tried it on and feels quite sturdy. The fifth lens, when in the adapter, could not focus to infinity and the aperture ring wouldn't turn; all 5 lenses work on another, much more expensive, adaptor I have. Upon closer inspection the short bar used to couple the aperture setting to the camera body (for open aperture metering bodies) was catching on the lip of the adapter. This stopped the aperture adjustment from turning and in turn didn't allow the rear element of the lens to move backwards, inhibiting infinity focus. A closer look told me the ledge inside the m42 mount was deeper than on my other adapter and very slightly off center. I sanded down the inner edge of the ledge until it was perfectly centered and matched the depth of the one on my other adapter. The result was an adapter that worked with all five lenses. If it were made this way in the first place I'd give it five stars.

Just the right thing

I took a chance while in the store and ordered this adapter for a old lica lens. There is nothing like luck and helpful store personal. It is just perfect for its intended use.

Questions about this item:

Seth R  The adapter says screw mount but doesn't say which. Can anyone confirm if this is indeed m42 aka Pentax screw mount? I have some old super-taks I'd like to use on my Canon 6D.
