Q&A

Questions & Answers

John B : What is the laser pen host made out of? What kind of metal would that be?Gerd K : The housing is sturdy, but rather cheap.DAVID J : I believe it is aluminum. I do not know how to tell, but it is too light to be steel and too cheap to be anything but aluminum. It may be part aluminum and part stainless steel. I can not find mine to check if it is magnetic. It is metal of some type. It does what it is supposed to do. For the price, it is a good laser pen.
Shopper : Will this laser pointer run on rechargeable NiMh batteries?JOHN H : I would think that your rechargeable batteries will work, however in my experience, rechargeables rarely last as long as store bought so have a couple of extras ready.GEORGE D : I really don't know. I have used only the regular batteries. I have found that the battery life is fairly short. I bought two of them in case one failed, but it hasn't so far.KATHLEEN A : I'm not certain, but most likely it will. In all my devices regular batteries last much longer than rechargables so for a long night out, they'd be preferable. I've had this laser pointer for almost 3 years now and it's still working fine. No complaints.HARRY R : I never tried rechargeable batteries. I use Energizer lithium batteries and have only replaced them three times since 2011.RICHARD L : I'm sorry I can't answer your question. I never tried to use rechargeable batteries with hit pointer.BART V : I returned this pointer to Adorama because it did not work and a replacement also did not workJAN O : Do not know.
DALLAS S : will the beam shoot straight to about 75 ft and be able to be seen at that distance?HARRY R : Yes, and further. this is an awesome laser pointer, You can't go wrong for the price. I bought it back in 2011 and am still using it.GEORGE D : I have been pleased with my green pro-optic laser pointer. Yes, it will shoot straight; yes, it is visible at 75 feet. I just shot mine 80 feet down the hallway at school. I often use mine to point out geological strata and other geological structures. My science lab is 30 x 33 feet. It's almost too bright at this shorter distance. I still use the optical slides; the Kodachrome slides have better resolution (5'x8') than digital. George D.JAMES S : Yes. Beam shoots very long distance and shows up well. However, visibility depends somewhat on atmospheric conditions. Some nights are better than others.CHARLES B : The pointer has a range of well over 75' in daylight and several hundred yards at night in the dark. The pointer is robustly constructed with a tubular aluminum body and a protected cavity for the light emitter. Hope this helps.SNAPPING SHUTTE P : Depending on how bright it is where you are using the laser. Out side at night this laser will shoot 750+ feet easily and you will see it with no problems. In the house or outside the laser works great also. During the daylight (. In direct sun light) all lasers are hard to see.PATRICK C : Yes the beam will shoot straight and be seen for hundreds of feet!JAN O : I have used the pointer outside to point to objects in the night sky. If the other people are located near you they will see the beam and be able to see the celestial object that you are pointing at. If the other people are too far from you they may not be able to see the beam as the dust in the air bounces most of the light back in the direction from which it originated. If you are shining the beam on a surface it can be seen for much more than 75 feet.ALAN B : If by "seen" you mean the beam itself, that will depend on the conditions. In terms of being able to put a green dot on something 75 feet away with minimal spread this device will do that easilyKENNETH S : I would say so. I use it at star parties and it works quite well still. I have had it a few years now and the only problem i have is when it gets cold it doesnt work. This was remedied by using lithium batteriesTHOMAS H : It will shoot miles and be very visible.

Okay for the money

This laser pointer is okay for the money. I bought four of them as gifts, which were well-received. It actually comes with batteries, but oddly, they were inserted into the laser pointer in opposing directions and very weak. The first necessary upgrade is to replace the batteries by new alkaline ones. The laser is not as bright and focussed as models that are double the price, but then: you get what you pay for, and yes, it does the trick.

Good pointing laser

This is neat and a very powerful pointing laser. The 2 AAA batteries were pointed + to +, for shipping. I switched them so that both positives were towards the bulb, as is usual. Wrong!, They have to be pointed away from the bulb. Otherewise an excellent product.

Functional, does the job

Bought this to use for presentations. It works well and as described. My only complaint is that it arrived with the batteries already in the laser pointer (instead of in the placeholders as shown in the picture) and the batteries were dead. When I took them out and replaced with my own batteries the laser pointer worked well and hasn't given me any issues.

Good power on daylight

The original batteries was exhausted. I replaced with alkaline batteries and works well. The laser has a very good power for using on daylight. I use this laser for Bird Watching. The polarity of the battery are not clearly marked. Take care of battery inversion..!

Good Green Laser

I used this in photography. It had a good weight in my hand. It was easy to manipulate. It was easy to turn on and off.

Not recommended for astro use

I bought it for indicating celestial points such as constellations. It worked well for a week, but soon after that the laser would dim to less than half strength about one second after pressing the button. The reduced beam is not visible to the viewer so fails as a star pointer. The device has residual value as a cat teaser. Replacing the standard alkaline Duracell batteries with fresh ones did not solve the issue.

Green Laser

I was hoping I could use this for Astronomy Teaching but it is not good enough for a clear night sky :)

Very nice, but...

The laser pointer is very good. Very well made, the laser beam is very powerful. There are couple things I don't like. 1. the on/off button has to be pressed all the time. I would like to be able to click and turn on, and it stays on, until you don't turn it off. 2. after the first 1 sec the laser beam weakens to about 20% of the initial power. I don't know if that's normal, but I think it's too much.

Great product

I gave this to my husband. He uses it for presentations in classrooms, and outdoors for starviewing. This is not a product for a child. Keep the box it comes in for storage, its 1 button design is simple to use, but can easily be turned on accidentally.

Green laser pointer

I bought this item to use as a pointer for public astronomy outings. It works great to show places in the sky. The only con, (and not the fault of this product), is being 5 mW and that it is not visible to all people over 20 feet away. For the price, you cannot beat this laser. a 50 mW laser would show up all the time but starts around $250.00

Highly recommended

I use this laser pointer in college classrooms to pinpoint spots on maps, charts, photographs, etc. It is very bright, and the green light is strong and steady. The fact that the pointer light is green rather than red makes it an eye-catcher immediately. Good purchase (even if a little expensive).

This high quality laser pointer incorporates the latest technology in laser optics..Use at any desired targets, projection screens, video monitor, presentations, tour guides, point at stars... wave length 532 nm

. Green lasers are the most visible because the human eye sees the green color more efficiently than other colors.
