Almost perfect

I bought this binocular (and it is "this binocular", not "these binoculars") for astronomy and could not be better pleased. It is very sturdly contructioned and I expect it will be very durable. The optices are superb. Focusing is easy and accurate. The twist-up eyecups are perfect for my glasses. The only fault I can find is the rear eyepiece cap that does not secure onto the eyepieces at all. I will have to add some felt or something around the inside edge of the cap to give it any kind of friction fit. Other than that they are perfect for my purpose.

Awesome stuff!

I got this binoculars because I've always admired the heavens and wild animals from afar and it was about time to get closer, and closer I did get! This works awesome for gazing at the moon which is why I got it. . Its not hard to handle at all and focusing isn't a problem specialy for a beginner. This was very very well worth it you will not regret it. I would agree with most comments that the only con about this product are the covers for the lenses are a joke but nothing u cant live with, other than that this are perfect.

Why did I wait so Long?

Why did I wait so long to buy these glasses? For the past fifteen years, I've had a pair of Pentax compact 10x25 binoculars, which are good in their own right, but when I bought the 10x50s, and compared them with the 10x25s the difference was almost shocking. When comparing the two sets, the only advantage the smaller binoculars have is that they are small - that's it! The full-size 10x50 PCF WP IIs have every other advantage. The images are much sharper and brighter, the colors and contrast are much better, they are vastly superior when used at dawn or dusk, they are much more comfortable to use for long periods of time, and they are just a pleasure to look through. Small, compact binoculars are better than no binoculars, but unless you absolutely must have a compact set, I think most people will be much happier with full-size binoculars. Full-size glasses will take up a little more room when you pack, but they will deliver superior results, and because of this you will want to use them more often. The fact that full-size glasses are a little heavier is more than nullified by their superior performance. If you have to take a long trip by car, and have a choice, wouldn't you rather be in a big car? It's the same with binoculars. Look up "Compact versus full-size binoculars" on the web, and read for yourself. I tried a few other brands of 10x50 binoculars in the same price range, but the Pentax felt the most solid, and had the sharpest image in my opinion. In the price range we're talking about, I honestly don't think you can buy a better pair of binoculars.

Sharp glass, good price

The first thing is that they look great, IMHO. The next is that I was able to make out 3 of Jupiter's moons this morning with these hand held. They are very solid, but feel light in the hand as they balance well and fit the hands comfortably. I bought the tripod adapter as well, but hand holding hasn't proven that difficult. The eye cups feature 3 positions, are metal with rubber covering and don't push in when held to your face. The eye relief is nice and long - I've found I prefer more eye relief to a wider view. The optics are very sharp. The internal coatings are good too - high contrast subjects like the the moon don't appear twice as a ghost image like I've seen in other binoculars. Viewed from the front the lenses don't reflect much light (in fact from some angles it almost looks like there is no glass in the tubes) and the interior of the binocular is nice and matte black. They also are internal focusing, which means they don't knock out of focus by accident. They come with an OK soft bag. The dust cap for the eyepieces is loose, but it's not a problem to me - I only put the dust caps on in storage. As of 5 May 2011, the Adorama photos of the binocular shows the old WP model on the left. The WPII model is in the right hand photo (with a single piece body).
