Shopper : can i use this lens with my canon xs?BERT M : I have no Idea, whether or not a Pentax lens will fit a Canon camera. Suggestion... Order the lens from Adoroma and try it. If it doesn't fit sent it back with in 30 days.GERALD T : No. It does not have the Canon mount.WOJCIECH M : I don't think so. The lens mount is different.GEORGIA K S : Probably not. The mounts would have to be the same. The pentax mount works by lining up the dots and then twisting 1/4 turn to the right. I'm not sure how the Canon mounts work. There may be an adaptor, but that may affect the autofocus function.
Shopper : Can you use this lens on a Canon body?BERT M : That's a question I have never thought about. My first reaction would be to say no. I do know that Canon lens will not fit a Pentax digital camera.GERALD T : Each manufacture has their own system of mounts.Pentax lens will only mount to pentax bodies. You can purchase an after market lens and get a Canon mount with it.GEORGIA K S : This lens has the standard Pentax bayonet mount--line up dots, quarter turn clockwise to lock it in. I don't know what kind of mount a Canon has. There may be an adaptor to make it work. Obviously all the right connections must be there for the autofocus to work. Another thing is that Pentax has the image stabilization in the camera, not in the lens like some manufacturers.JOHN G : I don't know for sure - but I doubt if the Pentax SMCP-DA autofocus zoom could be used on a Canon body. The lens in question has a Pentax bayonet coupling which would not work on a Canon body without some sort of adapter unknown to me. Plus, I think that a fortuitous match of the electrical connections would be unlikely.

GOOD GENERAL PURPOSE LENS

This lens is used with my K100d Super. I ran a few tests in comparison with my SMC A 50mm f1.7 which I consider my sharpest lens. I find that all apertures at the 18mm Focal Length were soft by comparison. The images sharpen up considerably as FL is increased and stay sharp up to the maximum FL.I believe that it will be a good lens to cover a variety of uses. I especially like the close focus.

Really Good Camera
