If HI quality is what you're after, this lens is an EXCELLENT choice for sharp, clear, fast photography! Amazing smooth manual overrides for zoom & focus, Although stabilization would be a plus, in-body IBIS is adequate. A well-balanced lens even without a tripod! Excellent for the "night stalker" enthusiaist!

What a great lens. Very clear, sharp, kind if heavy but it feels professional. Best apature at 200 with really clear center i found was f8.

Sharp at all apertures.  Wonderful bokeh.  On the heavy side but not as heavy as the 150-450.  Highly recommend.

Most of my work is portraiture, wedding and event.

I have used f 2.8 zoom lenses for a while now but rarely did I dare shoot with them wide open because the sharpness just was not there.

This lens is on a whole new level. Pentax has really stepped up their game. I can shoot comfortably at 2.8 knowing that this lens will stay sharp. The focus is also very accurate and quick. Lens flare is very very well controlled with the new HD coating and the resulting resolution is gorgeous on the Pentax K1.

The bokeh is also a thing of beauty!

Sharp Wide Open + Beautiful Bokeh

Purchased the K1 from Adorama, then the lens.  Great service and fast shipping.  They make purchasing easy.  The lens works great and arrived on time. This is one heavy lens, so I ordered the cotton carrier for added safety and weight relief.

Very good IQ when focus is on, which depending on the subject is fairly accurate. Just a little soft wide open, but not extremely fast to focus for sports or other types of action. Recommended over tamron due to the weather resistance and silent AF.

No great increase in AF speed

I used the older FA* 80-200 for quite some time and was hoping for an improvement.  I got it!  The lens is gorgeous and takes stellar images.  The glass is better, the feel is better, the features are better, and the AF is better.  Seriously, it's amazing.
