I understand that to allow this thing to be stored in the battery grip it needs to be small, but it would be nie to have a way to attach a lanyard to it during use.

Great for Macro an Landscape use but the remote itself is very small and can be lost easily.

This remote advertisement indicated that it operates the camera at a max of 15 feet. I have had great success with operation as far as 25 feet from the camera. But there must be no obstructions.

A bit tricky to use the button, but works just fine when one learns how.

Fun to use, eliminates the possibility of camera motion from depressing shutter. Great for night shots, long exposures. I am finding more uses for it all the time and I thought it would be just a "nice accessory to have". Need to have a longer self timer if I am to be in the picture! Have plenty of pix of the back of my head, or my hand with the remote in it. I do get concerned about losing it as it is small. Wish it had a loop/hook to which I could attach a lanyard, string, hook.

I read the bad reviews on this thing and thought, "huh, maybe it's user error." The joke's on me. This thing is junk. Yes, it's tiny as most complain, but if that were the only issue, I'd be alright with it. It's vere picky about the angle & distance at/from which it must be aimed. Standing 6 to 8 feet away trying to fire camera with remote pointed directly at camera's infrared remote sensor ... nuthin'. And the button on this thing is crazy small - you have to hit it juuuuuust right or it won't fire. I've tested this thing many different ways to Sunday and it just does not work consistently. Well, it's consistently poor. And yes, battery is fine & my camera settings are set for remote operation. It does fire sometimes, but only like, 10% of the time. I bought this to shoot mountain bike races and remotely trigger a camera setup in the thick in the action - always within 10 feet of me with remote - when self timer or wired remote cannot be used. I say again, it worked maybe 1/10th the time. If I could send this back I would, but I waited too long to test/try it. If it wasn't littering, it would've been thrown into a nearby creek on my last shoot. The ONLY thing I can use this for - when I have time to wait on it to work - is to take pictures of myself in my focus zone to test exposure/framing & focus before the racers reach my location.

I use this with my Pentax K-x and it works well. A great item to have in your kit, especially if you are using the camera with a timed setting or bulb. The only problem is it's very small and can get lost easily - would help if it came with a key ring. (I used Velcro to attach it to a keychain). Another note: when the battery dies, you have to return it to Pentax for repair; I'm planning to buy another as a backup.

Very small and fits in your pocket easily. Would be nice if it had a key ring attached.

This is a great remote. It can release the shutter without touching the camera, eliminating shake. I like it better than using a cable release. No more cable release cords hanging in the way. It is cheaper than an electronic wired remote. I've used it for many close up shots. It will fit inside the battery grip. However, that is part of its only problem. It is easy to misplace because of its very small size.

I bought this for my Pentax K10. I own both the Control F and the Control E. Both have the same function. The feature on the Control E of auto focus does not work on the K10 camera. Recommendation if you have the K10 camera, buy the control that is less expensive. Cons- To replace the battery of the remote control, you have to send it back to the manufacture. A fee will be charged for battery replacement.

I like being able to trigger my Pentax from a distance - but find a secure space in your bag - this thing is about the size of a thumb drive!!!!

I needed a way to trip my shutter without creating vibrations. This little guy does that great. Fairly narrow field of operation, so one must be careful to have a clear line of sight between the remote and the sensor. When shooting portraits, I can be on the subject side, watching their expressions, and not worry about peering throuth the viewfinder and pressing the shutter button.

Great item for long shutter exposures in landscapes and for macro photography. Easy to use - only one button. Only 'con' is that it is very small and easy to lose. Solved this by attaching a lens-cap holder to the bottom and hooking the elastic to a snap in my backpack. Definitely a 'must have' accessory making a great camera even better.

I should have purchased this for my K10D long ago. I take MANY pictures of my family...but they always complained that I was never in the photos. This makes do-it-yourself family portraits much easier than using the timer on the camera. Response seems to be immediate. I've also used it to get even better candids of my 7 month old son, as I can set the camera up remotely, then entertain him away from the camera, while being able to shoot at will. Other reviewers have remarked about the small size...it is small but I think that is a plus. Just keep track of it...worst case scenario, you're out 20 bucks if you lose it.

I use one with my Pentax K-10. It's especially useful for "tabletop" shots and macro work - anything that requires a tripod. I'm still surprised at how small it is; the one drawback is that it's easy to lose. (I once spent half an hour crawling around the grass in the dark trying to find it.) One feature that doesn't seem to get advertised much: the "Battery Grip" for the Pentax K-10 has a special compartment to hold this remote. (I once spent another ten minutes crawling around in the grass looking for the remote, having forgotten that I'd put it in the battery grip.)

I don't know why I waited to purchase the Pentax IQ Zoom LS Remote Control F for my camera. It is very easy to use (a lot easier than the built in camera delay timer) and has a reasonable range for various types of shooting. It allows me to be away from the camera to catch those "I didn't know you were taking a picture" and catching people at their most candid moments. Easy to hide in your hand, yet large enough to find when needed. Great for those moments you want to be in the picture also. Priced very low and an absolute must have for your camera bag.

I find the remote an essential tool to use with my Pentax K10d when mounted on a tripod. Like others, I was mildly shocked by the size; so my design wheels starting turning enroute from the camera store. Conincidentally, I purchased a Giotto MT 9242 Tripod on the same day. Included with the tripod is a small tool pouch, designed like a Leatherman knife case (only smaller) and has a solid key ring. The remote fits perfectly in the tool pouch and really can be operated without leaving the pouch (thumb movement moves it partially out of pouch to operate the button). The pouch is connected to an expanding, spiral lanyard which is always hooked to my gear bag. My gear bag sits under my tripod mount so that I can reach in and access the remote. I use lanyards in other applications and find them quite useful. The combination of the Giotta tool pouch and the lanyard was the ticket for securing my new Pentax remote.

This product is great for self-portraits or when you want to be in the photo. It allows you to trigger the shutter (with a delay) and then hide the remote. It is so small, however, that it can be easily lost (especially in the field). I use a cable switch outdoors. I recommend it as an addition to the cable switch.

It is so small that it is easily lost. I will probably glue a ring on it somehow to attach it to a lanyard so I don't loose it. It would be nice if there was a ring or something on it already

great addition to my gadget bag
By DONALD B.
I was shocked at the size. It is about 2 inches long maybe a quarter inch thick and half inch wide. I keep it in the box it comes in to make it easier to find in my gadget bag. With my IST DL I have a 3second timer release as well as instant release other cameras may differ. The only flaws I have seen have more to do with the camera instead of the remote. It came with battery installed ready to fire straight out of the box.
