Shopper : Can I use this piece with Canon XH A1s?Robert A : I would be concerned about the size of the rods. At 18" that is bare minimum and seems to be the basic setup for many different advertised rigs. You might be more comfortable with 24" rods.MARK W : I have used it with a Sony EX1 camera, which is a little larger than the Canon, so yes, I think it would work with your Canon XH.JOSEPH T : I'm certain you can, however it could be a bit cumbersome. I've personally used it with both an HDSLR and a Panasonic P2. With the screw threads and allen wrench you're provided with the rig, you simply turn the camera over and line up the threads of the camera and the rig. Using the right allen wrench, secure the rig to the camera. I ended up getting the 15mm low riser, so I could use a quick release plate instead of having to wrench it lose all the time. You'll probably have to get the high riser for a camcorder. Hope this helps! Its a great shoulder rig.

Excellent as expected

I suppose i was anticipating the secondary base plate that was advertised in the product image, however i was happy to have received the carbon fiber rods (which also differed from the product image), versus the aluminum. no biggie.

About Redrock Micro microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle

The microShoulderMount Deluxe Bundle includes everything in the microShoulderMount Bundle, and adds 18" rods. The Deluxe Bundle is great for camera setups that don't already have a rod support system.

The microShoulderMount Bundle is a flexible approach to portable camera support. The microShoulderMount starts by adding hand grips and a shoulder pad to virtually any camera rig. The hand grips and shoulder pad can be attached and positioned in an unlimited number of ways to create exactly the solution that's right for you. The microShoulderMount can be upgraded with the addition of microMounts and rod components to build even more configurations for support. The microPod and microPowerPod can be added to the rear of the rig for counterbalance weight and additional mounting options for accessories such as noga arms, portable hard drive recorders, etc.

Generally this system requires at least one additional component: a rod clamp or a microMount with spud for external monitoring.
