I bought it used through Adorama and it's definitely the way to go. Not a scratch on it, shipped well, and arrived quickly. I was so happy with buying used I bought a used hoya 52mm UV for my new 40mm STM pancake. Hoya's are great. You won't be disappointed.

Hoya's super multi-coated filters offer a big advantage compared to normal multi-coated filters in that they allow virtually all of the light to pass through the filter. UV and lens flare prevention is excellent. This model also is strong, adding additional protection for the camera lens. Given the cost of professional lenses, a fine filter like this is a good investment.

I always use a filter to protect my lenses...this covers a recently purchased Tokina 11-16. It does the job with no light distortion. Great value for money.

Put it on my Tokina 11-16 Wide Angle. Have not noticed any distortion at all. No glare that I have been able to see and it does help cut the haze a little bit. A great filter and highly recommended.

I bought this as protection for my Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 lens. I wanted a good quality filter and this is easily that. No image problems or aberrations in the photos I have taken so far, although that hasn't been a lot. I will need to shoot a little more and under different conditions to really say how accurate it is but as for protection it is well made, sturdy, and will do a great job of protecting the lens.

This is replacing a cheaper filter that actually broke as a stone (yes, a stone) hit the front element of my EFS 17-55 IS.Best [$] I have spent. After that experience I'll always have a filter mounted to protect my lens, so I'll get the best

I bought this mainly for lens protection - I always get a UV filter for any lens. I am happy with this product, it seems well built and great price for a high quality filter. No effect on my images that I can tell.

I'm a klutz. I buy these for all of my glass as a safety precaution. Thankfully, I've never had to test it, but I've seen friends save lenses with them, so I use them. As far as clarity goes, I notice no new glare and reduced UV haze in the photos. Besides the high price (I understand that good optics are expensive), I have nothing but good things to say.

I bought the 77mm and 58mm filter for my 24mm f/1.4 lens and 85mm f/1.8 lenses. When you drop a grand on a lens, you want to protect it. And you don't want to ruin in by buying a cheap filter. For me, as it should be for everyone, quality and performance should be considered above all and these Hoya filters do just that. Out of the package, they are perfectly clean, clear, and solid. They have a nice heavy feel to them and they screw on really smoothly. Nothing rattles around even after going through the abuse I put my gear through. Flare is EXTREMELY minimal even when shooting at the worst angles to the sun. I was really happy to this performance. I have a photojournalist friend who went cheap on his filters. Sure, most of the time they're fine but he was shooting at night with cop cars and street lights and one image has a huge flair and ghosting (not from the lens) which detract from the photo. After seeing this picture get ruined I knew right there that I wouldn't cheap out. I can't recommend these enough to anyone. You NEED to protect your lenses and you NEED these filters.

Hold up the glass, peer through and you will see that the glass is practically invisible to the human eye. The reflective coatings are obviously doing what they were intended for. This is some of the best glass I have seen. The mount is very sturdy and thin as well. Much better than the Tiffen glass I have and thinner than that from [...].

Lens production, so you spend $1800 and not protect it. That is a bad investment.

I bought this as protection for my Canon L lens. I was looking for a filter that would not affect the quality of the optics. This filter has not been removed from the lens since purchase.

Put it on your lens and leave it there!! Helps with UV while protecting the lens. SMC just makes it better.

Multi-coated UV filters are a must for protection of your glass. Hoya's UV filters are top-grade and do not alter the color cast.

I have purchased Hoya filters for all of my lenses for protection. With the recent acquisition of a Nikon 80-200 f2.8D, I noticed that it is very effective in cutting through the UV haze. In all other respects it is not noticeable - no reflections or ghosts.

It is comforting to use a simple product that is so good at what it does, in this case both protecting my lens and clarifying images - an excellent product.

This is a very nice filter. It is very important that clear filters allow light to pass through as uninhibited as possible. This filter is coated so that it nearly has no reflectivity at all. Other companies make filters by sandwiching plastic between 2 uncoated sheets of glass. While it is easier to control the quality of the filter material in the plastic, it can fade with time, and it creates 4 surfaces for light to defract or reflect internally. This causes nasty flare when a light source is shining into the lens. This filter is coated glass with no material in the middle, and flare in my photos now appears to be a product of the lens design, not filter flaws. This is the filter to get if your photos have flare in them with a protective filter, but not when the lens is bare.
