I got this for my nexstar 8se and it's just great.
It does two equally important things. First this scope is a schmidt-casseagrain design, which means that it has a corrector plate at the front of the tube. This plate cools faster than the air around it which will cause fogging. The dew shield slows this process down. Second, it acts as a light shield, which improves contrast.

This product is well made and very sturdy. with the velcro strip it attaches to the end of my Celestron cpc8XLT-GPS" scope with no problem and in seconds and holds tight.besides keeping dew off the mirrors it also shields from stray light. It should be the first and last time I should have to purchuse one!
