The original design isn't great. I lost mine just leaning the camera against my side. I assume the same would happen with this one, but it's a replacement and I wanted the eyecup. At least it's not an expensive part.
Buy lots; you're going to need them!

I carry two and sometimes three cameras on me at all times. The eyecup is forever getting snagged on clothing etc and pulling off. Hence, I have lost 4 eye cups this year so far and that doesn't count the times someone handed it to me saying "you dropped this".
Poor design.
