This is the exact HB-35 hood that your Nikon 18-200mm VR came with. If you cracked the origional (like I did), this is the perfect replacement. I just like having the hood, it keeps the sun out of the lens and protects the end of it a litte when it's swinging from my neck. I'd much rather crack another one of these $13 hoods than a $50 filter or even the front element of the lens!

I managed to drop my D-80 on vacation. Cap was on the 18-200 lens, and the hood was on in carrying position (backwards). The hood was damaged, but took the brunt of the fall -- and there was no damage to the lens. It acted like a shock absorber!!!

This is the exact Nikon hood I damaged....no second company replacement part...but the original nikon hood!!!
