I've hauled this bag all over several continents, and it has held up wonderfully. It's been on trails, under airline seats, in humid weather, in jungles, and wet and cold and performed admirably.
After a little over a year of occasional use, the zipper on this pack blew out. My video camcorder fell to the rocky trail on which I was hiking. I am now in search of a more reliable pack to protect my gear.
I really like this backpack. I carried it up Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and had no problems (other than it being hot and humid). The inside is nicely configurable to accommodate lenses and accessories, and I can carry everything I need, including several lenses, caps, filters, batteries, and so on.
It's only real weakness is that the tripod straps are a bit of a pain. Once the tripod is strapped on, it's a pain to get it off again. If I'm going to use my tripod frequently, I have to hand carry it to be sure I can get it set up quickly.
Nice roomy bag
I'm very pleased with the ease of use and durability of this backpack. You can configure the compartments however you like.
The only way it could get better is add a laptop compartment to it.
This backpack is perfect to my Canon 40D, 3 lenses, battery, accesories, minitripod...etc. It´s strong but gentle.
I personally used the pack to store, and transport my whole kit. Which included a body w/battery grip, 4 lenses, full sized flash gun, manual, spare batteries, charger, & filters. On my most recent trip, I also found room for a paperback, P&S digital camera, mp3 player, & several DVDs. For the casual photographer to enthusiast I think this is a fantastic bag for a shooter with the same amount of equipment as me.....maybe even a little more. Particularly at a price that is well below the competition.
Very strong.
Lightweight and nice look.
No easy access and no means of transportation for your tripod.
Everything else is just fine.
I do not have a lot of lenses, just a 50mm and 18-55. But I do carry extra batteries, a grip, charger, filters, a photo drive and its charger, phone charger, cf cards, 12 rechargeable batteries. In the outer pockets, I carry some books, manuals, cds etc. And I stow a jacket on the mesh in the front. I still have a lot of space left in it. The bag feel all right when traveling and fits the overhead bins easily. It quite comfy on my shoulders because of the padding.
Only gripe I got with this bag is that its compartments are not all that strong.
We use this backpack in a school setting in our Yearbook and Journalism courses. This is a very good way of moving camera equipment from one event to another and from one student to another without risk of damage to our equipment. In our situation we must give our camera equipment the greatest care due to the fact we would have a hard time replacing it. The camera Backpack fills all of our needs.
This is the best deal I have found for a backpack. I put a 20D with 28-105 attached, 70-200mm, 100-300mm, 100mm Macro, and 420 flash inside. It's tight, but it is all inside. I am tall and have a little trouble getting a comfortable fit of the straps for hiking. The handle on the top needs to be padded. The straps for attaching a tripod or other equipment don't seem too convenient and I have not used them to hold my tripod or anything else. There were loose fabric fibers from the velcro areas that was getting on my equipment until I used a vaccuum to clean out the inside of the pack. Even with the concerns I have mentioned, the amount of space, padding, and overall workmanship make this a really good buy for the price I paid. I will use it when traveling or hiking.
I have three other camera bags, including Lowe bags, but this is the one I consistently take. I even ski with it. It carries my Canon 100-400 "Lead Weight" lens with no problem. Its relatively waterproof, easily accessible and the zippered, outside compartments are great for storing small, frequently used items.
Agree with the comment regarding the ability to store the waist strap, I seldom use it. The bag also lacks a solid system for carrying a tripod. Lashing straps on the side or bottom would help. The outside bungee compartment is not very useful, except to carry a light jacket or other clothing item.
But overall, I love this bag. Its proven to be durable and lightweight...I seldom leave home without it.
Like others, I was a little sceptical when I saw the price of this bag compared to others in the same category but the reviews convinced me to give it a shot. I am indeed impressed the build quality and ampunt of padding. It leaves room to store the body with a 70-200 2.8 attached and room for 3 or 4 lenses and a flash. Plenty of space for other "stuff" too. Not sure how useful the outside bungee cables will be - theoretically to store a light jacket but I'm not sure I'm going to strap that to my gear bag...

I love this bag. Because of the price I was very suspect of it's quality. Boy, was I wrong. It is well constructed and holds all of my equipment. A few suggestions I'd make if you buy one:
*take off the Canon logos and replace with a patch (it screams steal me with the logos on)
* make sure that both zippers on the main compartment are together at the bottom of the bag (if you have the zippers meeting at the top of the bag they tend to come open)
* add padding at the top of the bag to protect your camera body.
Buy one, you won't regret it.
Excellent bag with every feature I was looking for. A few minor improvements could be made (hence the not 5 star rating - if I could award 4.5 I would have done):
1) Supply additional elasticated Velcro straps like the 'main' camera section one - I will be making my own, but two extra 'loose' ones surely wouldn't kill the price
2) Pad the 'pick-up' loop on the top of the bag, as this is currently very thin material - to pick up what can get to be a very heavy bag
3) Have a method to store the waist strap on the bag, as between shots, when not involved in 'serious' hiking or traveling it would be nice to be able stow the waist strap (in particular)
One major downside is the additional shopping you want to do to fill up every section :)
I do not need to have weather protection, which could be an issue for other parts of the world though.
[...] The backpack arrived quickly and kept my gear safe on the trip. I shoot with two cameras with zooms and a couple of Newswear pouches (also from Adorama) for a few other items but traveling with loose cameras is an invitation to trouble. Other photo backpacks may be better but at four times the price.
I tried buying the bag on a different website, but it was out of stock. I found the same bag at a local store for nearly twice the price. That let me know that this is a great buy! I may buy another because my collection of "toy" continues to increase.
Getcha one...or two, Now!
good design and good quality
Lot's of space. I couldn't find a nice bag that would fit my longer lense, unless i wanted to pay [$], and this was a great bag for a great price.
Exactly what I needed at a fair price
Used this pack on a day long visit to the Dallas Arboritum. I had it well loaded with lenses and other gear. It was easy to retrieve items and put them away. It rode well on my back.

I've bought so many attachments for my camera that I can't fit them all in the bag....but I really love the ease and sturdiness of the backpack. I know the content is safe...even in the snow and rain!
Great product for transport of camera equipment or just to store your equipment. Solid construction overall but do not expect it to protect your equipment if you drop it. Can get quite heavy with multiple lenses, etc but never felt that it would give.

I've had the Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack 200EG for several years now and have been very pleased. In fact, I just bought another one as a spare and bought another one for my daugther-in-law who is also a photographer. It holds my SLR and my digital SLR, lenses, 2 flash units, small binoculars, a mini dvd recorder, an ample supply of film, memory cards, batteries, filters, a pen light, a cleaning kit, a bottle of ibuprofen, chargers for both cameras, and all my cords. What else do you need? For the space and price it can't be beat!
I've been using this bag with my DSLR. Hiking or flying it is unbeatable for the price. I gave one to my father, he loves it too. I'll be getting another one for my film kit.

I have had several backpacks and this is the best so far, it is much improved over the old Canon backpack and a far better deal than the Tamrac or Lowpro. I have carried 2 bodies and 4 lenses no problem.

Is an excellent choice for your camera system. The only problem is if you have a Battery Grip (i.e. BG-E2)attached to the camera, is some kind of hard to close the back pack, but it closes.

This is a very good bag for hiking or traveling with your equipment. I have my body, lenses and accessories all in one bag and can easily access everything.

For the price this bag this bag is outstanding. Shooting digital I hike around with less equipment. This bag is just right for my SLR equipment – camera, two lenses, a telephoto extender, flash, filters and other accessories. The bag is well organized and easy to access. There is room for everything I need but not a lot of excess space.
