It helps a lot with lighting in some macro shots. However, the cord's a bit short and and the plastic covers for the connecting ends seem a little flimsy. Overall, it increases my flash options quite a bit.
I own three of these. Not because I need three, but because the shoe mount keeps breaking. I think that the FL-50 flash is too heavy for the small plastic shoe. It breaks off when I'm making a bounce adjustment. I now use a ProMaster OM TTL Cord that I purchased localy. The ProMaster has a better shoe, but the electrical connections are touchy. This is just another disapointment in Olympus products for the professional.

I've got two of these. The plastic foot on the extension end has broken on both. Fortunately, the metal nut allows it to still be fastened to my flash bracket. Works well, but breaks easily.
