I purchased this for use as a flash stand - with the hopes of using it on my D300. The tripod is too light weight for the D300, but very portable & functional for my auxiliary flashes. It is well worth the money for lighter weight equipment & uses.

I BOUGHT THIS TRIPOD TO USE WITH MY NEW CANON G9 WHEN TRAVELLING. ITS LIGHTWEIGHT AND FITS IN CARRYON LUGGAGE. IT HOLDS THE G9 STEADY FOR PICTURES AND ALLOWS ME PAN AND TILT TO SHOOT SHORT VIDEO CLIPS WITH THE SAME CAMERA. THE HEAD IS MADE MOSTLY OF PLASTIC, BUT STAY WITHIN THE WEIGHT LIMITS AND YOU'LL BE AMAZED AT HOW FUNCTIONAL IT IS.

I use it for work and fun (corporate trainer). Used primarily with small Sony Camcorder so this tripod is perfect. This is my second Bogen-Manfrotto tripod (larger model used with digital SLR w/lenses). Love them both. The joystick ball head and locking mechanisms give great flexibility while providing stability. Also has a bubble level: nice touch. Small, lightweight, EXCELLENT tripod for the money.

I plan to use the tripod on hiking trips. It's light weight and short length when folded is a real plus. It supports my Pentax Ist and a 28 - 200 zoom lens with no problems. I especially like the bubble level. It should help greatly to keep panoramas perfectly horizontal.

great little tripod

This tripod is fast and easy to use. I like the part that can stay attached to my camera and snap into the tripod. Also love the ball head for ease of manipulation. Also like that you can use this to take shots just inches above the table or ground. Clearly you need to be aware of the weight limitations. At full extension the tripod is a bit shaky and I wouldn't want a heavy camera up there. A great addition to my photo equipment as it was lightweight and inexpensive and works well - very nicely designed.

Awesome Little Tripod
By A photo travelerVerified Purchaser from Middle of America on 3/12/2008
Pros:
Folds Small, Good Stability, Lightweight, Unfolds Quickly
Cons:
None
Best Uses:
Photography, Travel
Describe Yourself:
Casual user
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This little tripod was just great for my week long Europe tour. I used it with my Olympus 510. The tripod is soooo light and easy to carry. Most of the time, I was able to keep it attached to my camera when wearing the camera with the neck strap(the tripod was closed obviously). The middle shaft is threaded a few inches below the head which made its transport on the airplane in my backpack even easier. I just unscrewed the top part with the head. Its stability was fine at full height given its specs. The build quality and ease of use of the ball head are excellent, it held my DSlr just fine, even with the 150 zoom lens. This tripod is great when a heavier tripod is not practical.

Not bad but not great
By Nikon ShooterVerified Purchaser from Miami, FL on 3/9/2008
Pros:
Folds Small, Lightweight, Unfolds Quickly
Cons:
Unstable
Best Uses:
Photography, Portraits
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

This is a fairly compact tripod that opens quickly and easily. It is fairly well designed and has neat features such as a switch to lock out side to side tilt, despite its ball head design. It akso has a neat feature which allows the legs to be opened wider for lower shots.

The problem is that it really is only designed for the 2.2 pounds it is rated for. There is quite a flex in the legs and the ball head only holds so much weight before it starts to give. I also feel that the quick release is weak and could lead to dropped equipment.

For light cameras, I'm sure it would work well. It is a great travel tripod due to its small size and light weight. Do NOT use it with heavier cameras!!!

Nikon D200 with MB-200, Nikon 18-200mm DX lens, Nikon SB-800 Flash... = Too much weight!

I love the joystick on this tripod. I do a lot of hiking and photography on uneven ground. The joystick makes adjusting the camera very easy.

For portability, this is THE tripod.

Great tripod for portability. It's only shortcoming is that at it's highest extension, the lowermost legs seem a bit fragile. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend this tripod.
