This tripod compares well with Gitzo but for a lot less money. But you will probably what to replace the included head with a nice ball head (I am REALLY liking my Markins M20).

I particularly like the fact it fits inside 20" - 22" carryon luggage and by changing to a simple ball head I can lower the weight considerably when backpacking. Very stable. Oustanding quality/price ratio.
