Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
This tripod is PERFECT for a regular digital camera. I just keep it attached to the camera so that I never have to say "should have brought the tripod!", and often use it just like a handle when just toting the camera around. It's small enough to fit the whole assembly in my purse, too.
The ball joint at the top is key, as well, so that you can tilt the camera vertically. I can see some heavier cameras would topple it, but mine works fine this way. (By contrast, the Gorilla pod is three x's the price and doesn't have the ball joint functionality, as far as I have seen.)
I really hope Adorama gets a new supply as I want to buy a few for gifts!
