fine until it breaks

Within the first week, one of the connections from a leg to the center broke on the first trip I took with this tripod. It was never dropped, treated lightly, and used for about five days before it broke. If it would not have broken for no apparent reason, it would have been a good regular tripod. It held my Rebel with a heavy lens without a problem.

DO IT

Well made tripod for its price. Supports a D40 with 18-55mm lens with good stability. Which is what I needed for my landscape shots. Good tripod to have for anyone looking for extra stability and not spend $150. Also has little extra features like the hook and the handle.

Okay for the price

The build quality of this stand is good for what you pay. Its not indestructable, but its not super flimsy either. It does its job.

Good value for the money but...

I had two problems with my tripod. 1) The day I got it the level was DRY, I wasn't that concerned about it. 2) Within an hour of owning it the kids knocked it over and the plastic crank broke. I used Epoxy glue, it lasted about a year. Recently the crank broke again. This time the knob. I drilled the plastc crank and used a metal screw for the knob axel. The crank is the weakest part of the design. Everything else is grear, I love the utility hook, as it hold itself down to my homemade dolly wheels with PVC pipes! The fluid head advertising is not what you would expect. Fluid heads are hundred of dollars, this is plastic, it does not pan like a fluid head, it pans OK for its price range. When you fold it the crank only fits one way btween the tripod legs, be careful. I seen lots of these around, so they are popular. Fast setup an dbreak down, easy to use controls, Levels are almost useless. Crank is fragile, hook is great. Quick release is great. For the price I'd buy another.
